At the multifunctional hotel complex “Cosmos Selection Moscow Vnukovo Sport,” Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov evaluated the procedure of checking into hotels without presenting paper documents using the national messenger Max – this possibility has recently appeared.
The service allows guests to check into hotels without filling out paper forms or presenting a passport at the front desk. To date, the technology is operational in hundreds of hotels, including the Four Seasons Hotel Moscow, Sochi Park Hotel, Mantera Supreme Seaside, Angleterre, Crown Hotel St. Petersburg, and hotels in the Cosmos chain.
The procedure is very simple: the user only needs to open the “Digital ID” section in the Max messenger profile, go to the “Passport” tab, and click the “Present” button. A dynamic QR code appears on the smartphone screen, which the hotel staff scans with a special device. After scanning, all the guest’s passport data is automatically loaded into the hotel’s system from government information systems, and the registration form fields are filled in automatically. The staff member only needs to hand over the room keys.
For hotels, this is a serious advantage. Staff no longer waste time retyping passport data and deciphering handwriting – fewer errors, more attention to guests. During peak hours, check-in goes faster, without queues.
The service is available to adult citizens of Russia, including those checking in with children. At the same time, the guest always has the choice: to use a digital ID or a traditional paper passport.
Dmitry Chernyshenko called on the regions to organize work with hotels to expand the practice of check-in via the Makh messenger.
“I support the idea that subjects should be offered a protocol for working with hotels and hoteliers, which will help prepare preferences and benefits for tenants to stimulate the use of Max. For example, privileges, promotions, staff training,” said the vice prime minister.
About half of the accommodation facilities in Russia have already received the technical capability to receive guests through the digital ID in Max. The active phase of testing and connecting new facilities will continue in the near future.
Maxim Reshetnikov emphasized the importance of synchronizing the operation of information systems and training the staff of accommodation facilities: “Colleagues from VK report that the technology is fully operational: passport data is automatically loaded from government systems, which eliminates the risk of errors during manual entry. We see that large hotels are already actively joining the process. Smaller hotels need to follow suit. Starting September 1, hotels with more than 50 rooms are required to provide such a capability.”
