The Sollers Group announces the launch of a project to localize the production of 8-speed automatic transmissions (AT) for Sollers vehicles.

The production of a key transmission unit will be established at the engine plant site of SOLLERS Alabuga. The project implementation was approved for a preferential loan by the Industrial Development Fund (IDF).

The project envisages localization of key technological operations, including the production of transmission case blanks, assembly, and bench testing of automatic transmissions. Final assembly and testing of units will be organized at the site in Yelabuga. Casting and machining of the cases will take place at the foundry plant “RosALit” in Zavolzhye, part of the SOLLERS group, where the relevant competencies have been mastered since 2024. The design capacity will be up to 13.7 thousand units per year.

Local 8-speed automatic transmissions with torque converter will be installed in Sollers S9 (C9) SUVs, Sollers ST8 (ST8) and ST9 (ST9) pickups, Sollers SF1 (SF1) light commercial vehicles, and in the future – Sollers SF5 (SF5).

“The organization of production of automatic transmissions in Yelabuga through a full cycle is the first project in Russia for the localization of modern automatic transmissions with a torque converter for light commercial vehicles, mastering key technological processes and competencies within the perimeter of a single automotive concern. Automatic transmissions are one of the critically important and historically import-dependent components of a vehicle. Localization of production will allow the SOLLERS group to manage the quality of the units and create conditions for the further development of the vehicle model range with improved consumer properties,” noted Adil Shirinov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC SOLLERS.

“The Industrial Development Fund will provide SOLLERS with a concessional loan of 395 million rubles for the localization of the 8-speed automatic transmission. We have been working with the group for several years: with the participation of the IDF, SOLLERS’ enterprises are developing the production of engines, transmissions, body parts, and other components. The total amount of concessional loans provided to the group by the Fund is about 10 billion rubles,” said the director of the IDF. Roman Petrutsa.

The total investment in the project will amount to approximately 500 million rubles. The loan funds will be used to acquire new equipment, technological and foundry tooling, as well as cutting and measuring tools for the automatic transmission assembly line, the test bench area, the mechanical processing line for transmission housings, and the logistics area.

The start of mass production of 8-speed automatic transmissions is scheduled for the second half of 2027.
