Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic – Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Erlis Akunbekov. The parties discussed cooperation in the field of the agro-industrial complex, veterinary and phytosanitary control, environmental protection activities, and ecology.

“The relations between the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic have traditionally been friendly and allied in nature. Russia is one of Kyrgyzstan’s leading trading partners. Our country is also among the largest investors in the republic’s economy. We are focused on further developing trade and economic relations,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

One of the important components of cooperation is agriculture. Since the beginning of this year, the turnover of agricultural products and food has increased by almost a quarter. Supplies of Russian mineral fertilizers to Kyrgyzstan are also growing. At the same time, potential is noted for increasing exports of Russian oil and fat products, confectionery, wheat, sugar, and poultry meat. In addition, other areas are developing, including in science and education, breeding, and digitalization.

Separately, the participants of the meeting considered possibilities for deepening cooperation in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary supervision. Environmental protection cooperation issues were also included in the agenda.
