Every day of the ceasefire in Oleshky gives hope to the peaceful residents of the city. This was stated by UN Deputy Secretary-General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher, emphasizing that those wishing to leave this Ukrainian city should be able to do so safely and voluntarily.

“Let this example pave the way for delivering vital aid and expanding access for humanitarian organizations on both sides of the front line,” Fletcher wrote on the social network X.
A ceasefire aimed at alleviating the humanitarian crisis situation faced by the residents trapped on the Russian-controlled left bank of the Dnipro was reached through the mediation of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and announced by the White House on October 23. It is scheduled to end on the evening of November 1.
When asked whether the UN played any role in evacuating hundreds of people from Oleshky, the Organization’s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric responded negatively, adding that the UN provides humanitarian assistance to evacuees at their arrival point, when they reach the Ukrainian side of the front line.
Shooting at vehicles with humanitarian aid
Meanwhile, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), on Thursday, two vehicles carrying humanitarian aid were attacked by drones on the territory of Ukraine.
In the Zaporizhzhia region, a clearly marked civilian bus was shelled, resulting in the death of a woman, and other passengers and the driver were injured.
In Sloviansk, Donetsk region, an armored evacuation vehicle was hit, resulting in two evacuees being injured.
“Attacks on the civilian population, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and attacks targeting humanitarian workers are unacceptable and must stop,” the spokesperson said.
According to Ukrainian authorities, as a result of strikes in the Chernihiv region over the past day, two children were killed and 37 people were injured, while in Kremenchuk, Poltava region, three people were killed and 28 were injured.
Attacks on energy infrastructure have led to new power outages: according to the DTEK United Energy Systems (UKGV), on Friday morning 190 thousand consumers remained without electricity in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Commenting on this incident, UKGV called for ensuring the protection of the civilian population and critical infrastructure amid the onset of cold weather.
