Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a meeting of the permanent anti-epizootic commission of the Government of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Rosselkhoznadzor, Rosprirodnadzor, other specialized agencies, public organizations, as well as representatives of the regions.

“Year after year, Russia confidently ranks among the world’s leading producers of livestock products. Our meat self-sufficiency has exceeded 100% for several years, and work is underway to achieve the food security doctrine’s target for milk. Furthermore, our country is steadily expanding the geography of exports of meat and dairy products. Today, this already includes over 100 countries. In this regard, ensuring veterinary safety is a fundamentally important direction for maintaining the leading positions of our livestock industry. One of the key instruments in this case is the effective vaccination of livestock. The government systematically supports the creation of vaccines and veterinary medicinal products,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that within the framework of the national project “Technological Support for Food Security,” state scientific centers are developing new modern vaccines. Approximately 2 billion rubles from the federal budget are allocated in the medium term for equipping the institutions.

Following the meeting, Dmitry Patrushev noted that it is important for the regions to constantly monitor the current situation in the field of veterinary welfare and, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rosselkhoznadzor, keep the issue of improving the efficiency of livestock accounting under control.
