The modernization of the public transport fleet plays a key role in improving the quality and safety of passenger transportation throughout the country. The State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) has leased an additional 70 new domestically produced buses. The new vehicles will be deployed on routes in the Moscow, Irkutsk, Sverdlovsk, and Ryazan regions, as well as in the Republic of Mari El. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“Updating public transport is one of the priority tasks set by the President. Replacing old rolling stock with modern vehicles directly affects passenger comfort and safety. The fleets of five regions have been replenished with 70 new buses. The equipment is supplied on concessional leasing terms under the program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the national project ‘Infrastructure for Life’ through the Ministry of Transport. This makes the renewal accessible to the regions and allows them to systematically develop transport infrastructure. Since the beginning of the year, about 2.4 thousand units have been delivered to 66 regions of the country under all the used public transport renewal programs. We will continue this work so that quality transport is available to as many citizens as possible,” said Marat Khusnullin.

In particular, 28 PAZ buses have been delivered to the Republic of Mari El. 18 KAvZ buses have been transferred to the Moscow region. For the Irkutsk region, 16 PAZ and GAZ buses have been supplied. For the Sverdlovsk region – 6 NefAZ buses. Two KAvZ buses have been transferred to the Ryazan region.

Overall, among the programs used by regions for purchasing new public transport are direct subsidies from the federal budget and subsidizing preferential leasing by JSC “GTLK” under the Ministry of Transport, leasing of wheeled vehicles through GTLK under the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s program, the infrastructure credit mechanism of the Ministry of Construction operated by the Territorial Development Fund, as well as the write-off of two-thirds of the debt on budget loans under the Ministry of Finance.
