On the platform “Active Citizen” a special project appeared “Professions of the Big City”. He will introduce the participants to specialists who ensure a comfortable and safe life for Muscovites — employees of the Moscow urban utilities complex, where more than 600 thousand people work. They are engaged in the reconstruction of schools and clinics, the construction of new facilities, and other important tasks.
As part of the special project, Muscovites will be able to learn about an electrical installation technician working at heights, an entomologist, a diver, a welder, a measurement and testing service master, and other representatives of city services. Specialists will talk about their work, professional tasks, and interesting cases from their practice.
Muscovites will choose the publication format
Users of “Active Citizen” will be able to choose in which format they prefer to learn about each specialist. A total of five votes are planned — each will feature three employees from organizations and enterprises of the capital’s urban management complex. The first surveys are already posted on the platform, with the next ones to be published in November, December, and January — one per month.
Depending on the participants’ choices, videos, articles, photo reports, animated materials, quizzes, and other publications will be prepared about the candidates. As a result of the voting in the “Active Citizen” project, at least 15 materials will be released. Users will be able not only to get acquainted with the professions but also to influence how the story of each specialist is told.
Divers, high-risers, and technical trackers
Among the heroes of the first votes are specialists whose work is usually hidden from the eyes of city residents. One of them is Alexander Borovoy from JSC United Energy Company. For 10 years, he has been engaged in the installation and maintenance of architectural and artistic lighting of buildings. Alexander participated in projects at such well-known sites as GUM, the main building of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, the skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, and the towers of Moscow-City.
Another hero is Elena Semenova, an entomologist at the State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads.” She monitors the condition of trees, shrubs, and flowers along the highways and streets of the capital, identifies plant pests, assesses the level of threat to them, and, if necessary, arranges treatment.
Among the heroes of the voting is also Andrey Ryzhov, a site foreman at JSC “Mosvodokanal.” He oversees the process of connecting new pipelines to the existing wastewater system. Such work requires technical knowledge, experience, and precision: specialists have to perform tasks on operational networks at depths of up to eight meters.
In addition, users are offered to choose the format for getting acquainted with the professions of a diver at GUP “Mosvodostok”, a welder at JSC “Mosgaz”, and a measurement and testing service master at PJSC “Rosseti Moscow Region”.
The special project “Professions of the Big City” will continue until spring 2027. Users of “Active Citizen” with a full and standard account on will be able to participate in the voting mos.ru. The project was prepared by the Moscow city utilities complex and “Active Citizen” in collaboration with the media holding “Evening Moscow”.
Project “Active Citizen” has been operating since 2014. During this time, more than seven million people have joined it, with over 7.9 thousand votes held in total. Every month, 30 to 40 decisions are implemented in the city. The project is developed by the State Public Institution “New Management Technologies” and the capital’s Department of Information Technology.
