The photo exhibition “The City That Helps” opened at two capital city locations: in Izmailovsky Park on Kastanovaya Alley and in the Moscow Metro square at Sokolnicheskaya Square. The exhibition allows Muscovites to see charity as the everyday life of those who help people in difficult situations. The exhibition is open until October 29.
The heroes of the photos are 12 capital-based non-profit organizations (NPOs). The photographs capture aid centers, their staff, and work on a typical weekday.
Charity service on mos.ru has become a familiar tool for citizens to provide assistance: the total amount of transfers to socially important programs of Moscow foundations has exceeded 350 million rubles. Today, 104 capital organizations are registered in the service, and behind each one are people ready to support those in need daily. The photo exhibition “The City That Helps” allows you to get closer to this activity: animal shelters, social kitchens, workshops — these are venues where help never stops for a single day.
People and events: who to see in the photo
The exhibition tells about real projects being implemented in various districts of Moscow. The posters feature the animal aid center “Wet Nose” of the “Nika” foundation: every month dozens of dogs and cats are admitted here, animals are treated, and new owners are sought for them. Another example is the workshop of the “Life Path” foundation in the “House of Crafts” pavilion at VDNKh, where young people with mental disabilities create original ceramic products together with social workers.
A separate topic of the exhibition is food and housing for the most vulnerable categories of city residents. For example, the social kitchen of the “Give Food” foundation prepares lunches for elderly residents of the capital who find it difficult to take care of themselves, providing nutritious meals to thousands of people. The “Family Home” project of the “Family Together” foundation gives parents the opportunity to live nearby, free of charge, while their seriously ill children undergo long-term treatment.
In addition, the exhibition tells about the collection of items. One example is the sorting center of the Second Wind Foundation, which receives three to four tons of clothing daily. Employees manually check each item and give it to those in need or send it for recycling. This clearly demonstrates that help is not only emotions but also painstaking, systematic work.
How to support organizations
You can support these and other initiatives through charitable service on the mos.ru portal. Today it unites 104 verified NGOs. They help children and adults with disabilities, the elderly, families in difficult situations, combatants, and animals, as well as support environmental initiatives and scientific projects.
The work and functional development of the charitable service on the mos.ru portal are supervised by the capital’s Department of Information Technology and Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy with the support of the Moscow Public Chamber.
The provision of socially significant services in electronic form and the development of e-government infrastructure are in line with the objectives of the national project “Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State” and the regional project of Moscow “Digital Government Management”. More information about national projects and the capital’s contribution can be found on the special page.
