The autumn marathon will take place in centers of Moscow longevity and on the project partners’ platforms. Seven thematic blocks were prepared for the participants, dedicated to different areas of life: health, mood, beauty, style, nutrition, movement, and new experiences.

“Even a small decision to leave the house and come to the Moscow longevity center becomes a big step toward a positive attitude for ‘silver age’ residents. That is why we constantly expand the list of activities in the ‘Moscow Longevity’ project. Now, an autumn marathon is starting with seven thematic blocks covering a wide range of areas. We hope that the activities will help participants resist the autumn blues, maintain a good mood, and find sources of positive emotions, even when daylight becomes shorter and the weather worsens more often. In October, the ‘Barista School’ and the ‘School of Russian Tea Tradition’ are also opening—new formats that allow the older generation to master unusual hobbies,” she said.

Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

Marathon program: from river cruises to wellness care

Participants of the autumn marathon will be able to gain new experiences on morning and evening sightseeing bus tours around Moscow, as well as on river cruises on the yachts of the “Radisson Royal” fleet along the “Heart of the Capital” route accompanied by tour guides.

Three quizzes will be held for fans of intellectual leisure. In the game “Melodies of Our Yard,” participants will test how well they remember songs from the 1950s to the 1980s. The rounds of the autumn quiz will be dedicated to the signs of this season, rituals, wardrobe, menu, and unusual types of physical activities characteristic of the season. The third quiz, “From ‘Alarm Clock’ to ‘Travelers’ Club’: the USSR TV saga,” will cover iconic TV shows, hosts, intros, and favorite episodes.

Weekly meetings of the “Health School” project with doctors from city clinics are held at Moscow Longevity Centers. Older Muscovites can gain relevant and comprehensible knowledge on how to reduce the risks of developing and exacerbating chronic diseases, timely notice important symptoms and signals from the body, maintain activity and quality of life, as well as receive support and answers to pressing questions.

Also, in the new season, specialists from the University of Educational Medicine will explain how simple eating habits and lifestyle can affect energy and good sleep. Experts from Sber and the “SberZdorovye” service will talk about how modern technologies help monitor well-being: they will teach how to use a digital blood pressure monitor, quickly get test result interpretations, and apply simple rules to maintain health at any age.

They also organize cooking master classes: the hosts will offer new autumn recipes and ideas for dish presentation. Experts from the pharmacological field will tell older Muscovites how to strengthen their health with medicinal herbs. And teams of stylists and makeup artists will help change their look.

Psychologists will hold a meeting dedicated to psychosomatic correction. They will explain why people often lose their ability to feel joy during the autumn period and how to regain their zest for life. The team from the cosmetic brand “Aravia” will talk about skin changes in autumn and invite participants on a tour of the training center.

Classes will run from October 15 to 31. The number of places is limited, so advance registration at the Moscow Longevity Center is required. A detailed schedule is published on project page.

Coffee and Tea: Two Courses for Project Participants

Muscovites are invited to two programs dedicated to the most popular drinks. The “Barista School” is resuming its work, and for the first time within the project, the “School of Russian Tea Tradition” will appear.

New season “Barista Schools” suitable for everyone who loves coffee and wants to prepare it at a professional level. Participants will be told about the history and coffee traditions, about various varieties, grain roasting, and ways of making the drink. Special attention will be given to brewing techniques (in a cezve, moka pot, funnel, and other devices) and aesthetic presentation. Classes will begin on October 19 at 11 Moscow longevity centers in different districts of the capital. The course includes five lectures (one per week). They will be conducted by experts from Moscow Barista School.

For the first time, a project called “Moscow Longevity” will open “School of Russian Tea Tradition”. It includes four sessions. The first three meetings will be organized at the venues of the Moscow Longevity centers, and the final ones will take place at VDNKh. The partner of the school is the Russian tea company ‘Nitka’.

Participants will get acquainted with tea varieties and types, master brewing techniques, and learn about beverage evaluation categories. At the end of the training, there will be a grand tea party in the historic pavilion “Tea Room No. 2,” where guests can fully experience the atmosphere of Russian tea traditions.

The organizers planned the schedule so that everyone interested could fit the classes into their timetable. The courses will be held in 11 Moscow longevity centers from October to December. The final enrollment for two groups will take place on December 7.
