Six years ago, the portal mos.ru started operating charitable service, which united verified non-profit organizations (NPOs) and caring residents, making assistance to those in need simple, convenient, and safe. Since October 2020, city residents have donated more than 356 million rubles, including almost 77 million since the beginning of this year.

“At the initial stage, the service united six non-profit organizations, now there are already 104 of them. As the number of NGOs increased, so did the amount of support for Moscow residents: if at the end of the first year of the service’s operation the amount of donations was 8.9 million rubles, then in just the sixth year, city residents directed more than 100 million rubles to good causes,” the press service of the capital said.

Department of Information Technology.

Over six years of the service’s operation, the stories of the beneficiaries of the funds have touched more than 200 thousand city residents who made donations. Through one-time transfers, the “Help Everyone” feature, personal fundraisers, or autopayments, they have sent charitable funds more than 856 thousand times.

Today, the service unites funds that present their programs in nine categories, such as assistance to children, adults, the elderly, families, combatants, people with disabilities, animals, as well as support for ecology and scientific-educational projects. Donations from citizens produce tangible results and allow NGOs to provide timely professional help: acquiring and delivering additional equipment and gear to soldiers on the front lines, as well as promptly purchasing rare medicine for seriously ill wards or a pack of food for homeless animals, and doing much more.

The residents of the capital most actively support charitable assistance programs for children: this section features 47 organizations that provide comprehensive assistance to toddlers and schoolchildren — from treatment and rehabilitation to help with socialization and consultations for foster parents and children. Since the inception of the service, nearly 160 million rubles have been transferred to the little wards — almost 45 percent of the total amount of donations.

Help section “Animals” — the second most popular in the service. The residents of the capital have sent more than 85 million rubles to the wards of the organizations presented here over all this time. The section features 13 funds that, thanks to the support of Muscovites, save street animals, treat them, build and insulate enclosures, purchase specialized food and necessary equipment, help pets get used to people and begin to trust them, so that in the future they can find loving owners.

The capital-based foundations featured on the service provide systematic support throughout Russia. Thus, thanks to donations collected through the platform, the foundation “People’s Front. Everything for Victory!” allocated funds to purchase multipurpose all-terrain vehicles — capable, fast, and reliable machines. The military uses them for reconnaissance in the most challenging conditions and far from roads, delivering important cargo and saving soldiers’ lives.

Help also comes to families raising children with disabilities. The foundation “Going Vertical” helps children with severe illnesses undergo a rehabilitation course and become independent. Recently, the organization allocated funds to pay for the rehabilitation of six-year-old Matvey. The boy has a rare disease characterized by developmental delay and intellectual disability. Matvey really wants to walk independently. The specialized course will allow him to improve hand motor skills, strengthen the muscles of his legs and entire body, acquire new skills, and get one step closer to his dream.

Assistance is also provided to families who find themselves in difficult life situations. Thus, the fund “Good Neighbors” directed the funds raised through the charity service to targeted assistance for people in trouble. The most in-demand types of support for those under care were food packages and medicines. Irina, who is raising two children alone, received such a package. One of her sons is on the kidney transplant waiting list, so almost all the money earned goes towards the child’s treatment.

The service gives city residents the opportunity to help those in need in a couple of minutes and feel their involvement in a good cause, to see the result of the support provided. And for non-profit organizations, the platform is an additional source of assistance and a resource through which they can inform residents about the charitable programs being implemented.

By making donations through the charitable service on mos.ru, residents of the capital can be confident that the funds will reach a worthy cause. Each transfer goes directly to the chosen organization. All of them are registered in the registry of charitable organizations of the capital, engage in socially significant activities, and have confirmed their reputation. NGOs regularly report on the use of the funds collected.
