On the 130th anniversary of the birth of Soviet prose writer and screenwriter Yevgeny Shvarts, on the main stage Moscow Drama Theater named after N.V. Gogol, subordinate to the metropolitan Department of Culture, an important premiere took place. The audience was presented with a dramatic fairy tale with a happy ending — “An Ordinary Miracle” in Pavel Parkhomenko’s production.
A phantasmagorical universe created by the main character is born on stage. His innermost fears and repressed emotions materialize into living characters, who gain their own personality and will. This captivates both the main character himself and his wife. They inadvertently find themselves inside their own creation, where they must rediscover the story of their love.
“For me, this is not only a fairy tale, but also an exploration of the relationship between two people. He, the playwright, is overwhelmed by a creative crisis and questions his own purpose. She, his life partner, tries to understand her place in the shadow of a great artist. Will they be able in the end to hear each other and find a way out of the labyrinth they themselves created?” — says the stage director Pavel Parkhomenko.
Costume designer — Polina Fadeeva, lighting designer — Maxim Kornev. Starring Dmitry Vysotsky, Lyubov Konstantinova, Alexander Denisov, Sergey Muravyov, Polina Rezaeva, Maryana Epinatyeva, and others.
