The city allocated over 280 hectares of land for the development of road transport infrastructure in the first nine months of 2026. In 12 administrative districts, they will build and reconstruct main streets, overhead pedestrian crossings, overpasses, bridges, and other important facilities. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.

“The development of the street and road network is an important part of urban planning. New and modernized roads help connect districts, reduce detours, and improve access to the metro, social facilities, and other significant points. This is especially relevant for new and rapidly growing areas. From January to September 2026, the capital allocated over 280 hectares of land for these purposes. Construction and reconstruction are planned or already underway on these sites for main streets serving the entire city as well as district-level streets, overhead pedestrian crossings, overpasses, bridges, and other important infrastructure elements — a total of 282 projects,” said Vladimir Efimov.

Well-designed road infrastructure is important not only for motorists. Crosswalks, bridges, and overpasses make routes more convenient and safer for pedestrians, and new connections between streets help distribute traffic flows. When developing projects, they also consider how the roads will fit into the surrounding buildings.

“The expansion of the street and road network stimulates the development of the capital. More than 50 plots have been allocated in the New Moscow Administrative Okrug since the beginning of the year — this is the highest figure among the okrugs for this period. In the south, 41 plots were provided to improve street and road infrastructure, and in the northeast and west — 36 and 30 respectively,” she noted

Ekaterina Solovyova, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Moscow Department of City Property.

Among the major projects in the Novomoskovsky Administrative Okrug is the third phase of construction of the Maryino – Salaryevo route. About 8.9 hectares of land have been allocated for it since the beginning of the year. The new road and overpass will increase traffic capacity, reduce the load on federal highways, and improve access for residents of the Maryino settlement and neighboring localities to the Filatov Lug and Prokshino metro stations.

More than 9.7 hectares of land in the district have been allocated for the second phase of construction and reconstruction of the Mamyr — Penino — Sharapovo route.

Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin announced the opening of the Shelepikhinskaya Embankment after reconstruction.
