The Moscow City Station (MGS) ‘Sickle and Hammer’ has been operating for a month. The new transport hub has connected the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), two metro lines, trams, buses, and electric buses, providing passengers with faster and more convenient transfers.

What has changed for passengers:

  • The transfer between the MCD and the metro now takes about 3 minutes — 5 times faster than before.
  • An enclosed concourse with escalators and elevators has been built, and canopies and convenient walkways have been installed on the platforms.
  • Passengers now have more travel options: at one transport hub, they can transfer between the MCD, metro, trams, and surface transport.

“Sickle and Hammer is the 90th Moscow city station. Just in September, more than 180 thousand passengers of the MCD departed from the new MGV. In total, about 2.5 million trips are made here annually. This demonstrates the demand for the new station: the modern railway has become part of the urban environment and has given millions of passengers more opportunities for quick and convenient trips,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

The opening of “Sickle and Hammer” was an important step in the development of the capital’s transport infrastructure, uniting various types of transport into a single convenient hub and improving the quality of passenger service.
