Artificial neural networks appeared as a simplified model of the brain. Therefore, artists working with machine learning have from the very beginning dealt with questions of perception and consciousness.
In the lecture, listeners will move from cybernetic experiments of the 1960s to projects based on deep neural networks and generative models of recent years — they will see how artists’ perception of the “thinking” machine has evolved.
