At the Moscow shipyard, construction began on innovative passenger vessels of the ‘Moscow 3.0’ project. Four two-deck electric ships have already been laid down, and they are planned to be launched in 2027. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
The Moscow shipyard operates in the Nagatinsky Zaton area. It is the most modern enterprise in Russia for the production and maintenance of water transport.
“On the instructions of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to update the capital’s fleet. In the next 10 years, innovative electric transport of the ‘Moscow 3.0’ project will replace the existing excursion vessels. They are being built at the Moscow shipyard, where more than 500 specialists are involved in production. We plan to launch the first vessels as early as 2027. The new equipment will make water excursions even more comfortable, quieter, and environmentally friendly,” noted Maxim Liksutov.
The length of the electric vessel of the “Moscow 3.0” project is over 35 meters, and the width is eight meters. It accommodates up to 168 passengers. It will have two spacious lounges with panoramic windows and an open area on the upper deck.
The production capacities of the Moscow shipyard allow not only building but also servicing the existing fleet in the shortest possible time. The enterprise will manufacture unique river transport for the capital, including electric boats for sightseeing routes, unmanned boats for security and eco-monitoring on the Moscow River, as well as the hybrid cruise ship “Moscow Golden Ring,” which will run on the namesake route through historic cities of Russia.
For a complex and multi-stage manufacturing process, the enterprise was equipped with the most modern equipment:
— a laser metal-cutting machine with numerical control is used for cutting aluminum and stainless steel, since the cutting process always begins the manufacturing of any vessel;
— A 350-ton hydraulic press is used for shaping sheet metal for ship walls, as well as for bending and twisting profiles on the ship beam;
— the hydraulic press with numerical control offers higher precision and nearly full automation; it is used for more detailed metal stamping and bending tasks;
— a rolling machine is used for bending metal profiles, pipes, angles, and channels at any angle in a single pass; the device operates automatically under the control of an operator;
— a turning machining center can perform machining of shafts, tubes, and other rotating parts, as well as turning, threading, and other similar operations;
— a four-roll hydraulic bending machine allows easy bending of complex asymmetric metal shapes into spatial products before final processing on a press or sheet bending machine.
Moscow Shipyard
The Moscow shipyard was built by order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in a record short time — in 22 months. The construction of a facility of this level strengthened Moscow’s status as a center for the development, production, and application of electric transport. Here, the most modern vessels for the capital and other regions of Russia began to be created.
The capacity of the new facility allows for the production of up to 40 vessels per year, as well as servicing and repairing over 100 units of equipment annually. More than 500 new jobs have been created for highly skilled specialists.
The full-cycle production is highly automated. It includes metal cutting, welding and assembly of hulls, outfitting, and launching ships into the water. About 50,000 people employed at facilities in various regions of the country are involved in the supply of components.
The enterprise is environmentally friendly: it does not produce noise, is equipped with wastewater treatment systems, and uses solar panels to generate additional energy.
In the coming years, Moscow plans to purchase about 40 modern electric vessels. They will operate on regular river routes and will become an alternative mode of transport for the residents and visitors of the capital.
After the shipyard was completed, the area around it was landscaped. There appeared rest areas, terraces, and spacious walking routes, as well as a children’s playground, which was designed in a style consistent with the shipyard building.
