A solemn award ceremony for representatives of construction dynasties was held in Moscow to mark the 70th anniversary of Builder’s Day. Families whose generations have participated in the creation and development of the capital over many years were presented with commemorative gift editions and letters of gratitude. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.
The main idea of the “Dynasties of the Construction Industry” project is to tell the story of people who have been passing down professional experience and skills from parents to children for decades.
“This event once again emphasized the importance of generational continuity in one of the key sectors of the city’s economy. It reminded us that the development of Moscow is made up not only of large-scale projects and modern technologies, but also of the work of thousands of specialists who, over decades, have created a comfortable and safe urban environment for our future. Thanks to the labor of builder families, whose combined experience exceeds 5,400 years, residential neighborhoods, social facilities, roads, metro stations, and modern public spaces have appeared in the city, used daily by millions of residents and visitors of the capital. It was important for us to thank these creators and show that their contribution is truly valuable,” noted Vladimir Efimov.
Gift editions were prepared specifically for construction dynasties. They contain family stories, memories of representatives from different generations, and accounts of iconic projects in whose construction they participated.
The construction industry brings together people who sincerely love their work and pass professional knowledge and experience on to future generations. Many families have worked in the profession for decades, maintaining a high level of responsibility, respect for labor, and a desire to make the city better. They are part of Moscow’s history. The book has become not only a commemorative gift but also a kind of chronicle of people whose work has helped develop the capital and shape its modern appearance over many years.
Representatives of the dynasties also received letters of appreciation from Sergey Sobyanin for upholding traditions and conscientious work in the construction industry.
The professional holiday for builders was introduced into the calendar in 1955: by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the second Sunday of August was chosen for it. Workers and specialists in the construction sector were congratulated on it for the first time on August 12, 1956.
