A photo exhibition “The District Through the Eyes of a Resident” has opened at the Vorontsovo estate. The exhibition includes 20 works by the winners of the city-wide photo contest “The District Through the Eyes of a Resident,” which was held as part of the Moscow Mayor’s program “My District.”

The contest was participated in by residents of the capital over 18 years old — both professional photographers and amateurs. More than 800 works were submitted across five categories — “Moscow Courtyard,” “A Day in Life,” “Pets in Moscow,” “Nature of the District,” and “Pride of the District.” An expert jury selected 40 finalists, and then the best shots were determined through the voting of the project “}]}]}Active Citizen” — more than half a million opinions were collected.

The exhibition can be viewed free of charge during the opening hours of Vorontsovsky Park from October 1 to 31. The photos show Moscow as it is seen by its residents in everyday life. Cozy courtyards and busy streets, iconic places of the districts, green spaces, and pets out for walks were captured through the photographers’ lenses.

Particularly interesting are the works in the categories “Moscow Courtyard” and “A Day in the Life.” The winners in the first were Olga Tokareva, Elena Kashchenko, Alexander Greshnevikov, and Marina Shamina. Their photos capture an arch covered with ivy leaves, a snow-covered area near a house, an evening panorama of the district, and the water surface of a pond. In the category “A Day in the Life,” the best shots were by Daria Lopukhina, Alexey Doronin, Zalina Boykova, and Alina Loktionova. The authors were able to reflect the movement of city transport, river vessels, and cars in their works, as well as convey the atmosphere of a hot summer day.

The winners of the “Pride of the District” nomination were Galina Nikolskaya, Yulia Smirnova, Alexey Polyakov, and Natalia Zvereva. The authors captured the Altufyevo estate, the Northern River Terminal, the sculpture “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”, and the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Solntsevo.

In the category “Nature of the District,” the works of Ekaterina Rubtsova, Elena Obabkova, Timofey Cherepanov, and Dana Kudryavtseva received the most votes. The photos depict autumn landscapes, a panorama of the Moscow River, and an plein air scene by a small pond with water lilies.

In the category “Pets in Moscow,” the winners were Nadezhda Safronova, Alexandra Kleshcheva, Yulia Smirnova, and Elena Mogilnaya. The heroes of their photos were golden retrievers and cats during walks around the city.

“My District” — the Moscow Mayor’s program for urban environment development. Its goal is to create comfortable living conditions in all districts of the capital. Convenient courtyards, well-equipped parks, modern social infrastructure facilities within walking distance are important components of the program.

A large-scale project is presented on the mos.ru portal special project, dedicated to the development of Moscow’s key sectors. Among them are transport, industry, healthcare, education, sports, and construction.
