The second exhibition of the seventh season of the scientific art festival “Frequencies” is opening at the “Bogorodskoe” gallery. The exposition combines installations, art objects, photo painting, and video art that challenge existing accepted canons. The project explores the principle of “everything fits” in the context of scientific knowledge and aesthetic experience: the boundaries of method are erased in favor of inclusiveness, and artistic practices offer multiple modalities of knowledge, inspired by Paul Feyerabend’s quote “Science is not only a method but also freedom.”

A separate exhibition “From Galoshes to Art” is dedicated to the city-forming enterprise “Krasny Bogatyr,” founded in 1887 in the village of Bogorodskoye, and the connection between industry and art in the first half of the 20th century. The factory, originally created as the Moscow Rubber Manufactory Partnership, was reorganized in 1910 into the company for rubber production and trade in rubber goods “Bogatyr.” The reconstruction of the buildings was entrusted to the Art Nouveau Moscow architect Gustav Gelrich. Since 1923, the enterprise, named “Krasny Bogatyr,” has supplied the country with rubber footwear — galoshes and boots.

Despite the factory’s closure in 2004, the residents of Bogorodsk preserve the memory of the enterprise. Visitors will see galoshes and rubber boots from the second half of the 20th century, the production scheme, building fragments, and archival materials. The factory’s products inspired cultural figures, including Vladimir Mayakovsky, Osip Mandelstam, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Alexander Rodchenko, and others.
