Beijing, September 28 /Xinhua/ — Chinese President Xi Jinping called for building a “peaceful China” according to even higher standards to ensure sustainable and long-term advancement of modernization with Chinese characteristics.

Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, called for this in his important instructions on the relevant work.

He stated that since the 18th Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, significant progress has been made in building a “peaceful China,” thanks to which the PRC has become one of the safest countries in the world.

Xi Jinping emphasized the need to unwaveringly implement a comprehensive national security concept, firmly adhering to the overall leadership of the CPC and strengthening it.

The Chinese leader called for coordinating development and security, strengthening the legal foundation, expanding capabilities through science and technology, preventing and eliminating various risks, and making constant efforts to ensure the country becomes safer, society more orderly, state governance more effective, and the population more satisfied.

Xi Jinping’s instructions were communicated to the participants of the conference on building a “peaceful China,” which took place on Monday in Beijing.

Member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Chen Wenqing participated in the conference and delivered a speech.

He noted that the achievements in building a “peaceful China” have gained worldwide recognition, with peace and security becoming distinctive features of the Chinese system of state governance.

Chen Wenqing called for adhering to a combination of punitive and preventive measures, joining efforts to actively build a “peaceful China” at a higher level.

At the conference, Wang Xiaohong, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Public Security, also spoke. He stated that to carry out the relevant work, it is necessary to focus on key tasks, implement innovative methods, and strengthen the foundations at the grassroots level.

China is one of the countries with the lowest levels of murders and crime.

In the recently published Global Public Security Index /2025-2026/, China ranked first, scoring 84.62 points.

This assessment confirms the established global perception of the high level of public security in China. More and more foreign tourists are experiencing this security firsthand as the visa-free policy expands, and as tourism services and urban security systems improve.

In addition, at the conference, 60 cities and 160 counties in the country were recognized as exemplary in building a “peaceful China” and were awarded honorary plaques. –0–
