Over the past year, more than 2,500 schoolchildren from families of participants in the special military operation, living in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts (TiNAO), have attended various free events.

The kids got acquainted with the work of one of Russia’s largest railway sorting hubs — the Bekasovo-Sorting station. The tour began in the technical class. There the students watched a film about the history of the hub, then they inspected the central control post. They were told about the tasks of train receivers, station duty officers, and hump yard controllers. The highlight was a practical session. Each young guest tried to perform the technological uncoupling of a train on a modern hump simulator, taking on the role of the station duty officer.

Another point on the route was the memorial park “Redoubt of 1812” in the village of Sofyino, Krasnopakhorskoye district. The park was opened in September 2022. It is located around an earthen redoubt — a rare preserved defensive fortification from the Patriotic War of 1812, which holds the status of a cultural heritage site. The redoubt was built by engineering units under the command of Major General Pyotr Ivashev, and its remains were found in 2006 during archaeological excavations. Schoolchildren walked along the alleys with busts of celebrated commanders, studied the exhibition of the museum visitor center — weapons and equipment from the 1812 era — and took photos in the memorial office of Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov.

At the Aleksandrovo-Shchapovo estate history museum, the children learned about one of the oldest estates in the Moscow region. Special attention was given to the events of 1812: heavy battles took place in the surroundings, and later the headquarters of the corps of Lieutenant General Count Alexander Osterman-Tolstoy was located on the estate’s territory. The guides spoke about various owners of the estate, including Vasily Grushetsky, a hero of the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–1774, and Ilya Shchapov, an enlightener who built three schools in this area at the end of the 19th century. The meeting concluded with a concert in the organ hall—the only one in TiNAO.

A highlight was also the visit to Vnukovo airport as part of the excursion. After the briefing, the schoolchildren practiced takeoff and landing on a Tu-154 flight simulator, observed the work of air traffic controllers, as well as cynologists and ornithologists responsible for flight safety. In the baggage claim area, the children were shown a modern system for locating lost items, which employs artificial intelligence technologies. At the end of the program, the young guests interacted with an active pilot.

In addition to thematic excursions, the children attended circus performances, concerts, show programs, and creative workshops. To mark the 81st anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, a charity concert “This Cannot Be Forgotten” was held at the “Southern Ice” sports complex. Young figure skaters performed on the ice, and circus artists performed on the stage. Additionally, more than 460 children from the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts watched performances at the “Moskino” cinema park.

Excursions for children and adults are conducted by the Troitsky Humanitarian Center. Visitors are introduced to the areas of its work and shown exhibits donated by soldiers from the front. The center also organizes workshops, such as making camouflage nets and army dry rations.
