A domestic manufacturer of innovative sterile atraumatic dressings received resident status special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow.” The site in the capital plans to deploy the first production in Russia of medical devices intended for patients with bullous epidermolysis, a rare genetic disease. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

“By order of Sergey Sobyanin, the city is consistently developing the medical industry, providing Muscovites and residents of other regions with high-tech domestic medical products. The new resident of the SEZ is organizing the production of full-cycle absorbent dressings for patients with bullous epidermolysis. By 2030, the company will produce over one million dressings annually. The investment volume for the project implementation will exceed 500 million rubles, and 27 new jobs will be created,” said Maxim Liksutov.

The production facilities of Frater company (Pharmeco Group) cover about 900 square meters, including nearly 300 square meters of clean rooms. On this basis, the enterprise will establish the production of specialized dressings that serve as a temporary skin prosthesis, reliably covering the wound surface and restoring its impaired barrier function.

For people with bullous epidermolysis, such dressings become almost like a second skin. They maintain an optimal level of moisture and protect damaged tissues from new injuries. The soft silicone layer with adhesive properties securely attaches to the skin around the wound but does not stick to the wound surface itself. This reduces the risk of tissue damage and lessens pain during dressing changes.

The scope of bandage application is not limited to bullous epidermolysis. They can be used in the treatment of burns, bedsores, trophic ulcers, as well as postoperative, infected, weeping, and other complex wounds. The product was developed by an international interdisciplinary team combining scientists, doctors, and technologists. Experts from the “Butterfly Children” foundation also took part in the work.

“In a year and a half, we have developed domestic atraumatic dressings that in key characteristics are no worse than the global standard for treating bullous epidermolysis. Our technology is unique — this is the first successful project in the world in the last 20 years to create an analogue of such dressings, and there are only a few productions of this level. In the Moscow SEZ, we are creating a domestic system of comprehensive care for complex and chronic wounds of world-class level,” noted the company’s CEO Albert Gaifullin.

In 2026, the special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Over the past two decades, it has evolved from a launchpad for innovative developments to one of the country’s most important industrial hubs — a center that unites companies strengthening Russia’s technological sovereignty.

Currently, more than 240 high-tech enterprises operate at 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone, whose total area reaches 430 hectares. These enterprises cover key strategic sectors: microelectronics, instrumentation, biomedicine, information technology, and robotics.

The capital is creating a base for the country’s technological sovereignty. Thanks to city solutions and support measures, residents of the SEZ “Technopolis Moscow” are increasing the production of innovative products and expanding their presence in global markets. This contributes to the implementation of the national project “An Efficient and Competitive Economy”.
