Specialists urban infrastructure complex they have renewed the asphalt pavement on a section of the Leningrad Highway in the north of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Pyotr Biryukov.

“Special attention is paid to maintaining the capital’s roads in regulatory condition. Every year, as part of preparations for the autumn-winter period, we carry out activities to renew the asphalt concrete pavement. We completed the repair of the section of Leningradskoye Highway from the Leningrad Tunnel to the 2nd Leningrad Overpass, where nearly 107 thousand square meters of asphalt were renewed,” noted Petr Biryukov.

The previous road repair season on this section took place in 2021.

One of the reasons for replacing asphalt is the formation of ruts due to heavy vehicle traffic. This can cause inconvenience for drivers and affect safety. Therefore, specialists regularly monitor the condition of highways, consider warranty periods, and timely restore the roadway. The main activities are carried out at night when traffic flow decreases.

The work is carried out in several stages. First, the old layer of asphalt is removed by milling, then inspection manholes and storm drains are repaired. After that, a new surface is laid and road markings are applied.

Modern technologies and asphalt concrete mixtures produced at city-owned plants are used in road repairs.
