This year, 36 new elevators will be installed in buildings with more than 10 entrances in the city center, and 66 lifts in high-rise residential buildings. The new cabins are designed to carry 400 or 630 kilograms depending on the technical specifications of each building, and the speed will reach one meter per second, they said at Moscow urban utilities complex.

Timely replacement of elevators is one of the priority tasks during the major renovation of apartment buildings in Moscow. According to the capital’s standard, lifts are replaced after 25 years of operation.

Buildings with 10 or more entrances

Specialists have already begun replacing elevators in multi-entrance residential buildings. One of them is located at: Olimpiyskiy Prospekt, building 22. This 16-story residential building, with a complex shape and no decorative elements, was built in 1976 based on a standard series design. It has 10 entrances, each with a passenger and a freight elevator. In 2026, 14 elevators manufactured by the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant will be replaced here.

Another building is located on Sadovaya-Chernogryazskaya Street (house 13/3, building 1). It is a 7–10-story structure in the style of Soviet neoclassicism, built in 1929–1930 according to the project of architect V.D. Kokorin. The building is also known as the Hydroproject House. It features a complex form and expressive facade plasticity: there are risalits, arches, niches, and decorative elements. The building has 12 entrances, each with one passenger elevator. Five elevators have already been replaced earlier, and this year specialists will update the remaining seven. Elevators from the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant are also being installed here.

Work is also underway at building 79 on Mira Avenue. This is a nine-story building in the Soviet neoclassical style, built in 1938 according to an individual design. Its facade is decorated with columns, panels, the entrance groups are designed with portals, and the lower floors are rusticated. The building has 12 entrances, each with a passenger elevator. As part of the major renovation program, three elevators will be updated in 2026, and another eight the following year. Equipment from the Shcherbinka Elevator Plant is being installed at the site.

High-rise residential buildings

Timely replacement of elevators has also begun in high-rise residential buildings. One of them is located on Rogozhsky Val Street (building 8). Work is underway in a 16-story building constructed in 1971 according to a standard design. The building has a simple plan shape. The facades, without decorative elements, are symmetrical with respect to the central vertical axis and feature complex plasticity. The building has three entrances, each with two passenger elevators. This year, all six lifts are planned to be replaced. Modern elevators produced by the Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant are being installed at the site.

Another building is the 16-story house 17/28 on Bakuninskaya Street, built in 2000 according to an individual project. The building is distinguished by a complex shape and minimalist facade design without the use of decoration. There are two elevators (freight and passenger) in each of the four entrances — a total of eight lifts, all of which will be replaced. Equipment from the Shcherbinskiy Elevator Plant is being installed here.

Lifting equipment will also be updated in building 28/2 on Staraya Basmannaya Street. This 16-story building, constructed according to a standard design, has a complex layout. Its facades feature simple shapes, lack decoration, and are visually distinguished by vertical rows of balconies. The single entrance houses both freight and passenger elevators — both will be replaced. Elevators from the Shcherbinsky Elevator Plant will be used at the site.
