Deputy Rector of the State University of Management Dmitry Bryukhanov took part in the Round Table of leaders of leading Russian universities at the publishing house «Arguments and Facts». The event was dedicated to key issues in the development of higher education: the topic of aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands, the implementation of the digital literacy concept recently signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, as well as the problem of applying artificial intelligence in education.
In addition to representatives of the university community, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova. She assured those present that, based on the results of the event, a protocol with proposals from the leadership representatives of universities would be sent to the ministry.
Also present at the meeting were the CEO of the publishing house “Arguments and Facts,” Associate Professor at the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Ruslan Novikov, head of the Laboratory of Media Communications in Education at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Alexander Milkus, rector of MEPhI Vladimir Shevchenko, rector of MGSU Pavel Akimov, rector of MSTU STANKIN Boris Padalkin, and many others.
One of the central issues during the round table was the problem of aligning educational outcomes with labor market demands. Research data shows that about 31% of students and graduates note the need to strengthen the practical component of education. During the discussion, participants considered how universities are increasing the share of applied modules and building partnerships with employers to ensure graduates a confident entry into the profession.
A significant factor in the development of educational programs remains the dynamics of technological progress: certain industries are updated so rapidly that course content requires regular updates. Special attention in this context is deserved by personnel training for high-tech fields — such as robotics, genetic engineering, and microelectronics. The implementation of relevant programs is directly related to equipping laboratories and updating the material and technical base.
Equally relevant is the adaptation of educational approaches in rapidly changing fields – for example, in the media industry. Here the market actively uses tools based on artificial intelligence, formats of quick content
and convergent work models. The task of universities is to, while maintaining a fundamental base, timely include in the curricula the mastery of relevant tools and the development of flexible competencies that allow graduates to confidently navigate the professional environment.
Higher education in Russia in 2026 is undergoing a major transformation: the transition from the Bologna system to a model of basic and specialized higher education sets new parameters for the operation of universities. This process is associated with the need to synchronize educational standards, ensure continuity of programs, and create clear guidelines for both applicants and employers.
The Rectors’ Club at the Editorial House “Arguments and Facts” is an expert discussion platform created to discuss key trends and reforms in the Russian higher education system. The events bring together leaders of the country’s leading universities, government representatives, and business. Among the participants are more than 40-50 rectors of Russian universities, leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, State Duma deputies, experts, and representatives of major businesses.
