Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova took part in the solemn opening of the IX International Forum on Oncology and Radiotherapy “For Life – For Life”.
The Deputy Prime Minister read out the welcoming words of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and also congratulated the participants, guests, and organizers on the opening of the forum.
“Early detection of malignant neoplasms, the development of modern methods for the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases have been and remain priorities for Russian healthcare. Since 2019, a network of more than 500 outpatient oncology centers has been established at the national level, significantly increasing the accessibility of diagnostics, as well as the volume of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Currently, 91 clinical guidelines developed by the professional community are applied in clinical practice. The diagnosis of oncological diseases has reached a high technological level: above all, this is the possibility of conducting molecular genetic and immunohistochemical studies for all patients when indicated, which allows timely prescription of targeted and immunotherapy with maximum effect,” said Tatiana Golikova.

She emphasized that in today’s conditions the importance of nuclear medicine is increasing. Within the framework of the national project “Long and Active Life,” infrastructure is being created for the production and use of radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis of oncological, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases. By 2030, a large-scale equipment upgrade is planned, including an increase in the number of cyclotrons. As part of the national project “New Health Preservation Technologies,” new radiopharmaceuticals are being developed, including for the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors. One such drug was already registered last year, and by 2030, six more will be created. Synchrotron and neutron installations are being created to develop innovative proton and neutron therapy. By order of the President, an interdepartmental working group has been established by the Government to coordinate the development and application of nuclear technologies in the field of medicine.
“The state guarantees program for free assistance to citizens of the Russian Federation already includes a cost standard for radiology, funding for the use of CAR-T technologies and mRNA vaccines – Russia became one of the first countries in the world to use personalized vaccines. I want to thank our scientists for the work you are doing. I want to thank Andrey Dmitrievich Kaprin for his involvement in this process, for being the absolute leader in this direction along with colleagues for a number of years now. We see the result. In seven months of this year, the volume of oncological care increased by 5.5% compared to the same period last year,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
Five-year survival rates after diagnosis increased from 55% in 2019 to 67% by the end of 2025. By order of the head of state, this work will continue within the framework of the federal project “Combating oncological diseases” of the national project “Long and Active Life.”
“Our main tasks are the further modernization of medical institutions, improving diagnostics, and extending the period of dispensary observation for patients who have completed treatment, as well as staffing support. I want to express special words of gratitude to those whose selfless work daily, hourly saves the lives of our citizens. This is to you, dear doctors. Thank you for your dedication to the cause, your fight for every patient, and for everything you do for life,” Tatiana Golikova emphasized in conclusion.
