M. Mishustin: Good afternoon, dear Andrey Valeryevich!
You head one of the largest electrical grid holdings in the world. It provides energy transmission to virtually all regions of the country and is a system-forming company.
This is a crucial direction for Russia with its vast distances and harsh climatic conditions. Electricity is essential for the stable operation of equipment in industry, agriculture, the service sector, and, of course, to ensure a proper level of comfort in residential buildings.
The President is paying great attention to the development of the energy sector. Recently, he gave permission for the commissioning of a substation and power transmission line in the Primorsky Krai.
The holding company has a vast infrastructure. Its active modernization and system expansion are ongoing.
Please start by discussing the results for the half-year.
A. Ryumin: Dear Mikhail Vladimirovich!
Andrey Ryumin, CEO and Chairman of the Board of PJSC Rosseti.
In the first half of the year, the company’s revenue amounted to 980 billion rubles. However, we forecast that by 2026 it will exceed 2 trillion rubles. This will be a record result, although of course we understand that the forecast depends heavily on the dynamics of electricity consumption.
As for the investment program, as of today, an investment program of about 1 trillion rubles is forecasted for 2026. This is approximately one third higher than the investment program for 2025.
The main investment projects of the Rosseti group are associated with those regions where the demand for electricity is growing rapidly. It is also important to note that within the investment program we build all facilities with maximum use of equipment produced by Russian enterprises.
As you just said, recently the President at the Eastern Economic Forum launched the 500 kV “Varyag” substation and the 500-kilometer transit line from Primorskaya GRES to “Varyag”, which were built using 100% domestic equipment. These facilities will allow us to transmit additional power to the south of the Primorsky Krai, where electricity consumption is steadily growing.
Of course, our priority is working in new regions of the Russian Federation, in border areas. There are many tasks related to ensuring the protection of energy facilities and conducting emergency recovery operations. We are also engaged in prospective development to ensure the growth of economic activity in these regions.
As for the technological development tasks, the work is mainly going in two directions.
First and foremost, this is the installation of high-capacity energy storage devices at our substations. This allows us to increase the flexibility of the power system and confidently handle peak loads.
We are also working on using direct current technologies to transmit large amounts of power over long distances. As the first such project for constructing a direct current line, we are considering a line to the Moscow region. Similar projects can be used in the regions of Siberia and the Far East.
M. Mishustin: It is necessary to maintain the company’s growth pace and expand the capabilities of the network infrastructure.
At the same time, of course, it is important to pay special attention to preparation for the autumn-winter period.
I would like you to explain what has been done and what further steps you plan to take in order to get through this season smoothly.
A. Ryumin: The volume of the repair program of the Rosseti group this year exceeds 135 billion rubles, which is 12% higher than last year’s figure.
More than 10.5 thousand teams have been formed for the prompt execution of recovery work. This amounts to about 50 thousand of our specialists. In case of emergencies, we have prepared about 8 thousand backup power sources – that’s more than 670 MW of capacity.
As for emergency reserves, all emergency reserves are fully stocked in accordance with regulations, and an additional reserve has also been organized for border regions and new subjects of the Russian Federation.
About special equipment. We constantly update the fleet of special equipment. Today, we use more than 27 thousand units of specialized transportation. Also, in all regions where the Rosseti group operates, joint exercises are conducted with the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, with other agencies, and exercises for the prevention and elimination of emergencies and accidents.
M. Mishustin: It is important here to check the condition of the infrastructure so that both the homes of our citizens and the enterprises are supplied with electricity.
A. Ryumin: Of course.
M. Mishustin: I also want to discuss with you an important issue of personnel training. The holding employs hundreds of thousands of people. These include front-line workers, dispatchers, engineers, and management. What is being done to engage promising young people and specialists in the industry so that they are interested in continuing to work specifically at Rosseti? This concerns both professionalism and higher education institutions.
A. Ryumin: The Rosseti Group is among the largest employers in our country. We have more than 240 thousand employees. And of course, both the financial and social well-being of our staff are very important to us. Annual salary indexing is carried out, and various social and youth programs are implemented.
We pay special attention to attracting young people specifically to our profession. We start this work from the school bench. We have the “Energy Circles” project for advanced study of physics, in which more than 3,000 schoolchildren are currently participating.
In addition, we cooperate with leading universities and industry colleges in our country. We support the movement of student teams. And we see that many of the participants later come to work specifically in companies of the Rosseti group.
An unconditional priority for us is supporting the veterans of the special military operation. To attract them to work in the Rosseti Group and its companies, we have concluded a number of agreements with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. Within the framework of these agreements, we regularly conduct educational events for veterans of the special military operation. As for those employees of the Rosseti Group who return after participating in the special military operation, we are very glad to see them back in our ranks, and we offer them extensive opportunities for advanced training and career growth.
