A solemn ceremony was held in Veliky Novgorod to inaugurate the final of the 2026 High Technologies Championship. This is the fourth edition of the event. Among the participants are students from colleges in Russia and foreign countries, young specialists and their expert mentors, experts in the business program, representatives of partner enterprises, and schoolchildren participating in the career guidance zone.
“Over time, the championship has truly become a unique platform uniting college students and senior high school students from various regions of the country—those who have chosen working professions for themselves, strive to be the best in their chosen field, and aim to benefit the Motherland. This large-scale event is dedicated to the domestic transport complex, and all the competencies of the competition program are formed according to its specific staffing needs, since the provision of the country’s economic and technological sovereignty, the development of critical logistics routes, and the quality of life of people largely depend on the industry’s workers, their professionalism, and responsibility,” President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated in his greeting to the finalists.
The championship’s business program will take place across 4 tracks: “Fostering the working person,” “Personnel and education,” “Technologies and innovations,” “Global partnership.”
“Among the national development goals set by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is achieving technological leadership. The high-tech championship brings us closer to it. This year, the focus is on the transportation sector. More than 15,000 people from 89 regions of Russia and 30 friendly countries will participate in competitions across 20 innovative competencies. Participants will have to solve real production tasks — from servicing high-speed trains and developing intelligent systems to managing cargo drones for light aviation and applying additive manufacturing. Thanks to the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ we are creating an environment where every young specialist can realize their potential. I wish the finalists confidence, bright discoveries, and great professional success!” said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Panel discussions, round tables, project and analytical sessions, and the plenary session will discuss how to train specialists for high-tech industries, including transportation. The key event and the outcome of the discussions will be the plenary session, which will take place on September 18.
“In four years, the High Technology Championship has become a true hub for integrating advanced practices in the system of secondary vocational education. We see how contestants confidently work with technologies that just yesterday seemed like science fiction or daring experiments. The most valuable thing is that these skills are already in demand in real-world production today. The best solutions born on the competition platforms form the basis for updating standards and vocational education programs. Working proactively and preparing specialists for tomorrow already today—that is the main mission of the championship,” commented the head of the Ministry of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
The innovative competencies of the High Technology Championship were developed jointly with the Ministry of Transport. They are related to the implementation of the national projects “Efficient Transport System,” “Industrial Support for Transport Mobility,” and “Infrastructure for Life.”
“The High Technology Championship, the final of which has been held in Veliky Novgorod since 2023, today truly sets the trends for training highly skilled personnel across the entire country. The development of a modern transport system—from creating the first high-speed railway line to implementing unmanned and digital solutions in the industry—requires specialists of a completely new profile. This year’s championship final is entirely dedicated to transport. The Ministry of Transport, together with key industrial partners, has prepared 20 innovative competencies. They are closely linked to the tasks of forming technological sovereignty assigned to us by the head of state, including within the framework of national projects. It is competitions like the High Technology Championship that allow us to test advanced competencies and swiftly implement them in the training of specialists for Russia’s transport complex,” emphasized Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
Greeting the participants of the High Technology Championship final, the governor of the Novgorod region, Alexander Dronov, sent his regards.
“For the Novgorod region, the championship is an opportunity to showcase the potential of our region, our enterprises and educational institutions, and most importantly – the potential of our youth, their knowledge, talent, and readiness to solve the most complex challenges. It is precisely such platforms that help discover new names, create professional connections, and build confidence among young specialists in their future. I am confident that these days will be a time of brilliant victories, new acquaintances, and important discoveries,” he said.
The solemn opening ceremony of the final was attended by Viktor Neumyvakin, Director of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Secondary Vocational Education and Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education.
The final events will take place at the site of the innovative scientific and technological center “Intellectual Electronics – Valday.” The solemn closing ceremony of the High Technology Championship will be held on September 18.
Winners and prize-winners of the High Technology Championship final, as well as their mentors, will receive awards established by the Government in the amounts of 300 thousand rubles for first place, 200 thousand for second place, and 100 thousand for third place.
The All-Russian Championship movement for professional skills “Professionals” includes the “Professionals” Championship and the High-Tech Championship. It aims to identify and support talented youth, strengthen the personnel potential, and ensure Russia’s technological sovereignty. The organizer is the Ministry of Education, and the federal operator is the Institute for the Development of Professional Education.
Partners of the High Technology Championship are key enterprises in the transport industry: JSC “Russian Railways” (RZD), LLC “NPS High-Speed Technologies”, LLC “GC Quiet Wings”, LLC “VSM-Service”, PJSC “Yakovlev”, the “Moskvich” factory, and others. They provide the most successful participants of the championship with specialized internships and invite them to employment.
The competitions are held within the framework of the federal project “Professionalism” of the national project “Youth and Children.”
