As part of the regional capital renovation program for housing stock, 10 houses built in the constructivist style will be renovated in Moscow in 2026. This is one of the significant architectural styles of the Soviet era. It was formed at the beginning of the 20th century and is characterized by concise geometric shapes, absence of excessive decoration, as well as a combination of rationality and practicality.

The major renovation of a residential building in Sokolniki at the address: 1st Boevskaya Street, building 1, block 2 is in its final stage. The building was constructed in 1931.
A range of works are being carried out here, including the restoration of the facade and roof, repair of the basement rooms, and replacement of engineering communications. Taking into account the age of the building, specialists have developed a unique project.
To minimize inconvenience for residents, the facade restoration was divided into several stages. First, the exterior walls were completely cleaned, then specialists repaired localized damage to the brickwork and mortar joints, and repaired the plaster layer on the side walls of the loggias.
The wet areas were treated with a special antifungal compound. After preparing the surface, the facade was covered with a new paint composition. The building was restored to its historic color scheme — shades of “light yellow wheat” and “classic white.” The final stage consisted of repairs to the plinth, entrance groups, and balconies.
The replacement of the roofing decking is being completed on the roof. The specialists redid the screed and laid a polymer-bitumen material on top. Its base is made of polyester, which allows the coating to withstand sharp temperature fluctuations.
Work continues inside the building as well. In the basement, rooms are being refurbished, central heating mains, drainage, hot and cold water supply lines are being replaced, and a new electrical network is being installed.
House for the workers of the Goznak factory
Another building undergoing major renovations this year is located in the Danilovsky District at 64 Lusinovskaya Street, Building 1. It was constructed in 1925 according to an individual design for workers of the Goznak factory. This is a six-story residential building with risalits on the courtyard facades. The architectural appearance is also shaped by inter-floor bands and a crowning cornice.
In 2026, specialists are refurbishing the facade and roof. The main task is to preserve the historical appearance of the building.
First, the walls were cleaned of accumulated dirt, after which the brickwork was repaired. Then the facade was treated with an antifungal agent and the architectural elements were carefully restored. The craftsmen also applied a new coating in the historical colors “natural beige rice” and “signal white.”
In addition, specialists updated the plinth, replaced the downspouts, and repaired the entrance groups.
A galvanized covering was installed on the roof, with partial replacement of the rafters, sheathing, and the wall plate. In addition, the floors were restored, and the wooden elements were treated with a fire- and bio-protective compound.
A century-old house in Sokolniki
The major renovation continues in the residential building in Sokolniki at the address: Korolenko Street, building 7, block 1. The five-story building was constructed in 1926.
Its facades are distinguished by complex plasticity with niches and protruding groups of loggias. The architectural appearance is complemented by window sill moldings and inter-floor projections. The lower floor is separated from the upper part by a belt of rectangular profile. The entrance group of the main facade is highlighted by a risalit of common areas with stained glass glazing. A profiled crowning cornice runs along the perimeter of the building.
The facade and roof are being renovated at the site, the basement is being repaired, and several engineering systems are being replaced. Work on the facade began with cleaning, restoring the plaster layer, and brickwork. Then, specialists recreated architectural elements and painted the building with modern acrylic-based paints.
For the facade, the colors “natural beige rice” and “classic white” were chosen. The plinth and entrance areas are also being repaired.
As part of the major renovation, the roofing is completely replaced. In the basement, the electrical supply system, main central heating pipelines, drainage, cold and hot water supply are being updated.
Previously, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov said that the capital’s major renovation program is one of the most large-scale projects housing modernization not only in Russia, but also worldwide.
