A new version of the fire-fighting robotic complex “Rusak” has been developed in the special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow.” The company is preparing to patent certain technical solutions of the device. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
“By the instruction of Sergey Sobyanin, the city actively supports the development of robotics, implementing new technologies and assisting enterprises in the industry. The company of the capital’s special economic zone has created more than 20 robotic complexes of various classes and purposes during its operation. One of the innovations is a fire-fighting robot. It is intended for use as part of fire-fighting units at chemical, gas, metallurgical, and other industrial facilities. The device operates remotely under the control of an operator and replaces humans in dangerous conditions,” said Maxim Liksutov.
The firefighting robot is being developed by LLC “Special Design and Technological Bureau of Applied Robotics.” The new model is twice as powerful as the previous one, created in 2025. With its own weight of 250 kilograms, the system matches the intensity of extinguishing agent delivery of 10-ton domestic counterparts. The device has undergone multiple tests at various fire safety events.
The robot consists of a high-mobility wheeled platform on which an automated fire monitor capable of delivering extinguishing agent at a rate of up to 40 liters per second is mounted. This allows large fire outbreaks to be extinguished remotely. The design features of the suspension and all-wheel drive ensure high mobility across various types of terrain, as well as in extreme climatic conditions.
Today, robotic complexes from the company are used at various facilities. For example, they are employed to repair spent nuclear fuel storage pools at next-generation nuclear power plants. Some devices have no analogues in the world — for instance, an amphibious robot capable of performing tasks at depths of up to four meters, as well as on land.
The special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over two decades, the project has transformed from a launchpad for innovative projects into a key hub of domestic industry and an attraction center for companies defining Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, more than 240 high-tech enterprises are localized on 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, covering a total area of 430 hectares, representing strategic directions such as microelectronics, instrumentation, biomedicine, IT, and robotics.
