Nanjing, September 10 /Xinhua/ — In the first eight months of 2026, the number of crossings of the Chinese national border by foreign citizens continued to rise amid the expansion of the visa-free regime and other measures aimed at facilitating entry for foreign travelers.
In January-August, foreign citizens crossed the Chinese border nearly 61.29 million times, which is 19.5% more year-on-year, according to data presented on Thursday at the subforum on cooperation in migration control, held in the city of Lianyungang / Jiangsu Province, Eastern China / as part of the annual conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum. Of the total entries into China, 23.72 million were under the visa-free regime, accounting for 77.6% of the total and 26.8% more compared to the same period last year.
China is steadily relaxing visa regulations so that foreign visitors can stay longer in the country and travel more frequently.
