Beijing, September 10 /Xinhua/ — On September 10, when China annually celebrates Teacher’s Day, the China-SCO Basic Education Cooperation Center was officially opened.
The opening ceremony of the new institution was held during the opening of the educational services exhibition as part of the China International Fair for Trade in Services /CIFTIS/ 2026, which takes place from September 9 to 13 in Beijing.
According to the report, the office of this center will be located in the Chaoyang district of Beijing, and it will operate in an in-person format. It has become known that this is another educational cooperation center in the China-SCO format, established after the founding of the centers in the field of vocational-technical education and higher education of China-SCO in September 2025.
As reported at the event, this center is intended to develop areas of cooperation such as youth and adolescent exchanges, teacher training and exchanges among them, the application of artificial intelligence in basic education, as well as research on education policy and cooperation between analytical centers.
The Beijing authorities will establish this center in accordance with high standards and will effectively use this platform to deepen cooperation in the field of basic education among the SCO member states to strengthen the foundations for humanitarian exchanges and the rapprochement of the peoples of these countries, said Yu Yinjie, a member of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee Bureau and secretary of the city’s Party Committee Education Commission.
He also highlighted a number of achievements of the Chinese capital in the development of basic education, which, according to him, laid a solid foundation for the creation of the aforementioned center.
According to the report, educational authorities from the SCO member states and relevant bodies in the field of basic education from key regions of China will also be invited to help establish this center.
Recall that the initiative to create this center was put forward at the 26th meeting of the Council of Heads of State Members of the SCO, recently held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. -0-
