Capital Department of Natural Resource Use and Environmental Protection won a lawsuit against a closed joint-stock company that organized an unauthorized waste dump on its site.
Experts identified violations during a scheduled field inspection of soil conditions in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts. Inspectors found a land plot that was used for illegal purposes. Soil, broken concrete, asphalt, logging residues, and household waste were dumped there. The contaminated area amounted to about seven hectares, and the volume of waste exceeded 46 cubic meters.
“The total environmental damage amounted to almost 237 million rubles. The recovered funds will be allocated to the city budget and will be directed towards environmental protection measures — greening, soil restoration, and other important projects for Moscow,” noted Dinara Kayumova, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
“Moscow Control” closely monitors compliance with legislation and continuously develops a set of measures to prevent violations. Conducting comprehensive monitoring of the city’s soils and green spaces is one of the agency’s priority areas of work.
