Beijing, September 8 /Xinhua/ — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing on Tuesday with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, noted that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of both countries, the strategic partnership relations between China and Qatar have made significant progress.

Noting that China firmly supports Qatar in protecting its national sovereignty, independence, security, and stability, Wang Yi expressed confidence that Qatar will continue to provide strong support on issues concerning China’s key interests.

He added that China is the most reliable and long-term partner in Qatar’s development process and is ready to maintain contacts and cooperation with Qatar on international and regional issues.

Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in turn, stated that Qatar firmly adheres to the One China principle and opposes external interference in China’s internal affairs, as well as being ready to strengthen contacts and coordination with China within the framework of the United Nations and other mechanisms, defend multilateralism, and promote international peace and common development.
