Modern technologies in the MosKino film park, subordinate to the capital Department of Culture, allow filmmakers to fully immerse themselves in film production without worrying about finding the necessary tools. There are eight shooting studios and 74 outdoor and interior sets here. Filmmakers can shoot the required scenes in the settings of 80 cities across Russia.
3D Models and VR Technologies
At the “Port City” site, created for the production of the historical series “Arsenyev,” detailed sets have already been built. There are stores with early 20th-century signs, the famous Millionka district in Vladivostok, an early 20th-century Chinese quarter, alleys, and a pier overlooking a pond inhabited by koi carp and featuring an artificial wave effect. All this allows for shooting outdoor scenes without any additional construction.
The key technological solution of the film studio is the chroma-key cyclorama in the pavilion of the “Railway Station” site, one of the largest in Moscow. Based on it, precise 3D models are created for preliminary visualization of scenes in virtual reality. Even before filming begins, the team can walk through the digital set, place virtual cameras, and plan the angles.
During filming, the virtual background is substituted in real time, the director and cameraman immediately see the final composition and promptly adjust the setup, combining real objects of the film studio with computer graphics. The motion capture data of actors filmed against the chroma key background is transmitted to the VR scene to pre-check interactions with digital objects and avoid discrepancies in scale and timing.
In addition, the digitized cyclorama is used for remote approvals. Producers and production designers assess the proportions of the sets, lighting schemes, and spatial layout in VR, making adjustments without visiting the location. This hybrid approach allows for the most accurate alignment of real filming with virtual elements and significantly reduces the amount of rework during post-production.
Equestrian complex and pavilions
This year, the film studio infrastructure has been supplemented by two new sound stages, 20 and 24 meters high. Their total area is 4.6 thousand square meters, with makeup rooms and everything necessary for the efficient work of the film crews.
A multifunctional component plays an important role in the production process film shooting pavilion with a total area of 3,800 square meters. On two levels, there are filming spaces with ceiling heights of 20 meters, 12 makeup rooms, administrative offices, auxiliary and technical areas, as well as a freight elevator for decorations weighing up to two tons. A high level of sound insulation (69 decibels) is provided by special partitions, cladding, ceiling, floor, and acoustic materials. This makes the pavilion suitable for synchronous filming with sound recording. Key scenes of the spinoff film “A Hundred Years Ahead” — the movie “Joker U,” as well as the feature film “Beirut” and the series “Yugoslavia,” have already been filmed here.
The comfort and efficiency of the filming process are supported by the auxiliary spaces of the film park. Cozy dressing rooms with zoning, mirrors, tables, and rest areas allow actors to prepare for shooting in comfortable conditions. The costume and props workshops save teams from having to rent props separately. A full-fledged cafeteria with a serving line and a separate finishing kitchen provides food for a large number of people and allows a wide range of dishes to be prepared. Unlike food trucks, the stationary cafeteria is not dependent on site equipment and helps preserve the project’s budget.
Wardrobes, bathrooms, household, service, and office rooms are equipped with basic furniture and equipment, and sanitary safety measures, including bactericidal recirculators, ensure the necessary hygiene standards.
At the end of 2025, a horse complex with a total area of over 20,000 square meters opened at the Moskino film park, created according to the classic racetrack scheme. At the center is a replica of the historic Moscow riding hall. The space is adapted for filming, concerts, shows, and interactive programs. The first “Battle of the Robots” championship has already taken place here.
The complex also includes real stables, which currently house 16 horses of 11 breeds, as well as training blocks and a veterinary service.
From the palace to the Reichstag
New on-location sets were also opened, including the “Palace.” It is located on the “Battlefield” site, which allows it to be used in filming battle scenes involving pyrotechnics.
The set “Modern Moscow” reproduces the most sought-after sites of the capital, allowing for complex filming without lengthy approvals for film crews on restricted city territories. Here there are its own public service center, school, kindergarten, and even an underground passage, which significantly simplifies the filming process.
The “European Cities” decoration allows for the reproduction of urban landscapes from the times of the First and Second World Wars, and is also suitable for filming historical stories from the 17th to 19th centuries.
The “Reichstag” decoration is an exact replica of the Reichstag building in Berlin at the end of World War II. It hosted the immersive project by Igor Ugolnikov “Victory! The Banner over the Reichstag,” the eponymous feature film was made here, and patriotic events were also held.

Hotel complex
In 2026, a hotel complex called “Cinema Residence” was built in the film park, designed in the style of an English medieval castle. It features 202 modern rooms with comfortable living conditions. Nearby is a promenade area styled as a Russian manor with gazebos and a view of the pond.
Two hotel complexes have already been opened earlier in the film park: a three-star hotel with 72 rooms, as well as 25 festival cottages where visitors can stay over the weekend while visiting the complex.
