The Moscow city branch of the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps (MGO VSKS) has opened registration for the first aid and psychological support competition for the MGO VSKS Cup. Young people aged 14 and older who have formed a team of three are invited to participate. Contestants will need to test their theoretical knowledge, demonstrate skills in emergency situations, and learn to work effectively as a team. Registration is open on the portal “Moscow Youth”.
“The competition gives participants the opportunity not only to demonstrate their existing knowledge but also to gain experience in solving unconventional situational problems. For the city community of volunteers and rescuers, such events are important as a tool for maintaining a high level of professionalism,” said Margarita Savinkina, head of the ‘Youth of Moscow’ project.
At the competition, the youth of the capital, volunteers, rescue students, and representatives of public organizations will be able to test their level of training in first aid and psychological support. The main feature of the contest is the combination of individual theoretical preparation and team-based solutions to practical situational tasks.
The event takes place in two stages. The first is conducted in the format of online testing. From August 14 to September 10, each team member will have to answer questions that will test knowledge of action algorithms in various emergency and stressful situations, the sequence of providing first aid, principles of interaction with casualties, and basics of psychological support.
The test results of all three team members will be summed. Based on the results of the first stage, the teams that will continue to compete for the MGO VSKS Cup and will have the opportunity to participate in the in-person final will be determined.
During the tests, it will be necessary not only to demonstrate individual knowledge and skills but also to properly distribute responsibilities within the team, quickly assess the situation, determine the sequence of actions, and make a joint decision. Special attention will be paid to the accuracy of task execution, the coordination of participant teamwork, and the ability to maintain effectiveness under time constraints.
“First aid competitions are an opportunity to understand how ready you are to apply your knowledge in a real situation. When every second truly counts, not only speed and accuracy matter, but also the ability to work as a team, listen to each other, and stay calm. Participants have the chance to meet like-minded people, exchange experiences, and test themselves in conditions as close as possible to practical activities,” noted the head of the Moscow City Department of the All-Russian Voluntary Rescue Society, Maxim Dzhetygenov.
The competition format is close to real conditions where first aid and psychological support skills can truly save lives. In an emergency, it is not enough just to know the correct algorithm — it is important to be able to quickly apply it in practice, stay composed, and interact with others.
