Five overpasses and one tunnel were built as part of the straightening section of the southern direction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD) — from Sevanskaya Street to the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway (MR). The work was carried out under constrained urban conditions, in close proximity to the operational railway infrastructure. This was reported by Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction.
“In Tsaritsyno, the construction of the final section of the southern direction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter from the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway to Sevan Street has been completed. To create the transport interchange with six artificial structures, it was necessary to rearrange and lay about 65 kilometers of engineering communications, including electrical networks, storm and cable sewage systems, as well as street lighting networks,” noted Vladimir Efimov.
The implementation of the project allowed for straightening the southern section of the MSD and eliminating two kilometers of detour. Additionally, an extra exit from the MSD to the M-4 “Don” highway via Lipetskaya Street was created. This will enable motorists to choose optimal routes and significantly reduce travel time.
“By the end of the year, it is planned to reconstruct Kaspiyskaya Street from Sevanskaya to Medikov Street on the straightening section of the southern direction of the MSD. The length of the section will be 2.3 kilometers. Subsequently, in the area of Yerevanskaya Street, reconstruction of the holding-turnaround area will be carried out and a terminal station building for urban transport will be constructed,” added the head of the capital’s Department of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure Construction.
The opening of the final section of the MSD will improve accessibility to several districts in the south of the capital: Tsaritsyno, Moskvorechye-Saburovo, Western Biryulyovo, Eastern Biryulyovo, Central Chertanovo, and Northern Orekhovo-Borisovo. It will also reduce the load on the interchanges at the intersection of Kashirskoye Highway with the MSD and Proletarsky Avenue with the Southern Rokada, increasing the capacity of Kashirskoye Highway and Bakinskaya Street.
