May 26, 2027 Theater in the Southwest, subordinated to the city Department of Culture, will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Its history began with a small basement in a multi-story building on Vernadsky Avenue, which was allocated to teacher and director Valery Belyakovich for performances. The theater has the largest repertoire in Russia — more than 60 performances. The most famous are “The Master and Margarita,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “Walpurgis Night,” “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” “Zoyka’s Apartment,” “Dead Souls,” and “Not Listed.”
On September 10 and 11, the Theater in the Southwest will begin its jubilee, 50th season. Its main idea is the connection of generations. The program unites the theater’s history, the contemporary troupe, and the future.
