Specialists urban infrastructure complex Moscow has started the final stage of constructing a high-pressure gas pipeline in the southwest of the capital. The polyethylene pipe facility will supply gas to consumers in the South-Western Administrative District. Work has been underway since the end of 2025 without any delay. The construction is planned to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
To date, the gas pipeline on Mikhail Greshilov Street has been laid using open and closed methods. Work continues on Novoyasenevsky Avenue using auger boring. In addition, specialists from JSC “Mosgaz” are preparing to install cranes with remote control capabilities for shut-off devices. The Russian-made equipment is highly reliable and responsive: if necessary, the gas supply can be shut off from the central control room in one and a half minutes.
The total length of the gas pipeline will be about one and a half kilometers. The project provides for a combination of open and trenchless installation methods, which is due to the characteristics of the area’s development. To preserve engineering communications and above-ground infrastructure objects, nine closed crossings are planned along the route. The work is being carried out in stages; after the completion of each section and quality control of the welds, the excavations are backfilled.
The final stage before connecting the new gas pipeline to the main system will be air tightness testing of the pipes. AO “Mosgaz” ensures quality and safety control at all stages of the project — from pipe procurement to commissioning. Thanks to this, the capital’s energy supply networks are recognized as some of the safest and most reliable in the world, and new facilities timely meet the city’s growing needs.
