The Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve, subordinate to the capital Department of Culture, uses modern technologies based on artificial intelligence in its work. For example, neural networks help process feedback and determine guests’ emotional reactions through QR codes, digital AR technologies with 3D models make exhibits more accessible for study, and intelligent systems are used to monitor the condition of natural territories.
Digital copies of ancient books
Neural network solutions are used in the planetary scanners of the “Elar” corporation. The technology not only scans documents, books, or objects but also automatically controls the quality of the shooting. This increases the efficiency of the curators’ work and allows obtaining digital copies of consistently high quality, which is especially important for creating electronic collections and conducting scientific research.
The technology’s application is primarily aimed at processing museum documentation. The system scans the museum’s inventory books and creates their electronic copies. A specialized graphical interface allows working with the books without using the paper original, increasing the efficiency of reconciliation with accounting documentation and addressing the issue of preserving accounting documents.
Guest emotion analysis and exhibit details
Another area is related to feedback from visitors. From December 15, 2025 to June 5, 2026, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve participated in testing an innovative solution: an AI-based system analyzed voice messages and reviews that guests left via QR codes. The algorithms recognized speech and determined the emotions of visitors in the messages.
Digital technologies also help to introduce museum visitors to exhibits in new ways. Thanks to a joint project of Tsaritsyno with the educational platform Skillbox and the technology company Devar, within the framework of the exhibition “In Search of Folk Art 2022–2024,” 17 exhibits have become part of a virtual exposition created using augmented reality technology. Among them are, for example, a set of five Turkmen rings “Kokenli-yushchik,” a clay toy “Tea Party” from the village of Kozhlya in the Kursk region. Seven animators and five 3D artists worked on their visualization for six months.
The developers faced the task of conveying the pristine appearance of the exhibits — preserving all the roughness and asymmetry in digital form. As a result, it became possible not only to examine 3D models of museum items in detail but also to hear stories about the culture and folklore traditions of countries and regions, told in different languages.
Environmental monitoring
Intelligent systems are also used to monitor the natural areas of the museum-reserve. From October 2025 to June 2026, pilot testing of the software and hardware complex “PromEcoMonitor”, designed for continuous environmental monitoring, took place in the territory of the Biryulyovsky Dendropark, which is part of “Tsaritsyno.” The system is based on a network of highly sensitive sensors and intelligent software. The complex recorded more than 20 key atmospheric parameters around the clock. The collected data was processed using artificial intelligence, which allowed it to be displayed on a map and to provide up-to-date real-time information on the state of the park’s ecosystem. Additionally, thanks to the research, specialists developed forecasts of possible environmental changes.
Other modern diagnostic methods are also used to preserve the natural heritage of “Tsaritsyno.” Tsaritsyno Park is a unique historical area where more than half of the trees are between 70 and 300 years old.
To preserve valuable green plantings, comprehensive diagnostics are regularly conducted. Specialists use modern methods to assess the internal condition of the wood, including ultrasonic and tomographic diagnostics, instrumental examination of trunks and root systems, as well as visual inspection for signs of damage. All this allows for timely measures to be taken to preserve the trees, reducing the risks of their damage or falling.
Currently, work is being carried out in the park to preserve three unique trees: the historic pine on the meadow near the Grand Palace, which is one of the unofficial symbols of “Tsaritsyno,” as well as two oaks around 200 years old. The use of modern diagnostic methods makes it possible to extend the life of such trees, preserve the park’s historical landscape, enhance visitor safety, and ensure a more precise and careful approach to the care of unique natural objects.
“Parks of Moscow” is a large-scale city initiative aimed at creating comfortable, modern, and multifunctional recreational areas for residents and visitors of the capital. The project combines more than 50 park territories that have been transformed into popular places for sports, culture, family leisure, and communion with nature.
