Beijing, September 2 /Xinhua/ — The Navy and Air Force of the Southern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army of China (Southern Theater Command PLA) conducted patrols in a state of combat readiness on Wednesday in the territorial waters of the Chinese island Huangyan Dao and in the airspace above it, as well as in areas adjacent to the island. This was reported by the Southern Theater Command.
Emphasizing that the island of Huangyan Island is an integral part of China’s territory, the Southern Theater Command stated that since August its forces have increased patrols in the relevant areas.
The statement notes that such patrols are aimed at further strengthening control over the relevant maritime areas and airspace, and also serve as an effective countermeasure to counter all kinds of rights violations and provocative actions.
