In Vladivostok, Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev conducted an inspection of the Il-114-300 aircraft, which will form the basis of the Far East’s fleet on local and regional air routes. The inspection was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov, who oversees the development of the aviation industry, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov, Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako, as well as heads of airlines “Aurora,” “Taiga,” and the “Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise.”

“It is good that we have a new airplane. In terms of comfort, the airplane is quite acceptable. As for safety, it is determined within the framework of a series of certification flights, not as a result of this test flight. This matter needs to be addressed separately. Currently, this work is mostly completed. And this airplane is not enough for us for the Far East. We discussed this with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The airplane is designed for 66 seats. In the Far East, there are various settlements. There are many settlements where we will not gather 66 passengers. We also need an aircraft that seats 9–10 people and will allow connecting small settlements among themselves and with the regional capitals,” said Yuri Trutnev.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov, Managing Director of JSC “Il” Daniil Brenerman, and chief designer of the Il-114 Mikhail Alekseev reported on the progress of additional certification tests aimed at expanding the operational map of the aircraft, as well as on its key advantages.

The aircraft performed a demonstration flight lasting about an hour along aviation routes in the area of Vladivostok International Airport named after V.K. Arsenyev.

The Il-114-300 arrived in Vladivostok the day before from Zhukovsky near Moscow, having covered over 6,000 km with an intermediate stop in Krasnoyarsk.

Currently, sources of preferential financing for the delivery of the first batch to the Far East have been identified. Firm contracts are expected to be signed shortly. The airline “Aurora” plans to replenish its fleet with regional Il-114-300 aircraft. The first planes will begin arriving to the Far East residents in 2028.

“The Russian market needs a modern regional aircraft, and the Il-114-300 is meant to meet this demand. Today, this is no longer a matter of prospects — airlines are generating specific demand for such aircraft, primarily for the Far East and other regions with long routes and challenging operating conditions. We see our task as providing carriers with the necessary volume of aircraft and preventing a gap between market demand and production capabilities,” said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Gennady Abramenkov.

“The Il-114-300 aircraft is a fully domestic certified turboprop regional passenger aircraft, designed for use in regions with poor airfield infrastructure and in harsh climatic conditions — remote regions of the Arctic, the Far East, and Siberia. We plan to deliver the first aircraft to the Far Eastern customers in 2028,” said Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of JSC ‘Il.’

“The airline’s specialists continue to work with JSC ‘Il’ and PJSC ‘UAC’ on forming the optimal design of aircraft for regular passenger transportation on regional and local routes in the Far Eastern Federal District. On these routes, residents of the Far East need modern and reliable domestic aircraft,” noted Konstantin Sukhorabrik, General Director of JSC ‘Aurora Airline.’

The governor of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, gave his assessment following the demonstration flight: “A regional aircraft that is convenient for interregional flights. This is a good plane to fly to our nearby territories.”

The Il-114-300 aircraft is a fully domestically produced certified turboprop regional passenger plane with up to 66 seats, designed specifically for local airlines, including use in regions with poor airfield infrastructure and in harsh climatic conditions — remote areas of the Arctic, the Far East, and Siberia.

The Il-114-300 will replace the retiring fleet of aircraft such as the An-24/26, as well as foreign-made planes currently operated by airlines.

Il-114-300 is a versatile platform that allows the creation of various aircraft modifications based on it: transport, cargo-passenger, medical evacuation, and special purpose.

The creation of the Il-114–300 became one of the examples of Russia’s technological sovereignty. A large cooperation of enterprises, mostly part of the state corporation Rostec, is working on this project. The aircraft is made from components exclusively of Russian production: two domestic TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines with a power of 3100 hp with new AV112-114 six-blade propellers, a modern passenger cabin interior developed from the latest Russian materials, a digital flight and navigation complex that is no worse than the avionics used on mainline aircraft. This is the only aircraft in its class equipped with three laser inertial systems that ensure safe operation in the absence of satellite signals and under conditions of limited radionavigation infrastructure.

The production of the Il-114–300 aircraft involves the cooperation of enterprises of PJSC “UAC”: the branch of JSC “Ilyushin” – “Aviastar”, the branch of JSC “Ilyushin” – VASO, and NAZ “Sokol”. The final assembly is carried out at the branch of PJSC “UAC” – the Lukhovitsy Aviation Plant named after P.A. Voronin.

The Il-114-300 flight test program took place in several stages. The first flight of the aircraft occurred on March 31, 2024. Exactly one year later, on March 31, 2025, the second prototype joined the tests. In June 2026, the Il-114-300 received its type certificate.

As part of the expansion of the expected operating conditions, tests were conducted in Yakutsk in February 2026 under extremely low temperatures, in March in Arkhangelsk the Il-114-300 was tested in natural icing conditions, in May tests were successfully completed in the Arctic for basing and operation in high geographical latitudes, and in August tests were conducted under high temperature conditions in Bukhara. The materials obtained during the tests are being submitted for examination to the Russian Aviation Register.

Currently, tests are being conducted in thunderstorm conditions and the aircraft’s performance on unpaved airfields is being evaluated.
