The results of the program supporting young talents have been announced in the capital, which allows compensation for education at universities in creative specialties. On August 31, young people became recipients of the Moscow Mayor’s grants for obtaining higher education in the field of culture and art. The program is aimed at identifying and supporting promising specialists, as well as forming a talent pool.
“This year, 30 people became grant recipients. By October 1, the participants will receive financial support, which allows compensating up to 100 percent of the tuition cost in the leading creative universities of Russia. The greatest interest among students was sparked by the music direction — 38 applications were submitted for it, 33 applicants chose architecture, and 24 — cinema,” said the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the Moscow Department of Culture.
This year, 122 applications were submitted to participate in the program. The expert council allowed 50 candidates to advance to the competitive selection. The final list of recipients was published on website.
Residents of Moscow who have successfully graduated from art colleges in the capital could apply for grants Department of Culture or those who have received a secondary general education alongside studying at an art school. 30 grants covering up to 100 percent of the entire study period are provided in areas such as “Music,” “Architecture,” “Painting,” “Choreography,” and “Cinema.” The grant amount depends on the specific area.
Thus, in the field of music, five grants are awarded totaling no more than 700 thousand rubles per year. In the field of architecture, 10 grants are allocated totaling no more than 370 thousand rubles per year, including the areas of graphics and design—no more than 600 thousand rubles per year. Winners who chose painting and sculpture received five grants totaling no more than 600 thousand rubles per year, choreography—an identical number of five grants. And another five grants totaling no more than 900 thousand rubles per year were allocated to the “Cinema” direction.
The decision to award grants was made by an expert council, which includes representatives from the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow and educational organizations in the field of culture and art, independent experts, well-known public figures, and figures of culture and art. One of the advantages for a candidate was having won competitions in the fields of culture and art over the past three years.
The list of higher education institutions in 2026 included more than 30 leading educational organizations in the country specializing in creative fields. The largest number of applications was submitted for study at institutions such as the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, Moscow Architectural Institute (State Academy), Russian Institute of Theatre Arts — GITIS, Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Moscow State Institute of Culture, and the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S.A. Gerasimov.
Starting from 2026, restoration has been added to the list of specialties and training directions, and the list of higher education institutions participating in the project has also been expanded. The program has been joined by the A.N. Kosygin Russian State University, the A.L. Stieglitz Saint Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry, and the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television.
