Opened registration for the competitive part of the IX International Youth Forum “Heritage.” It will bring together students from universities and colleges—beginning architects, restorers, sociologists, historians, economists, urban planners, and representatives of other related specialties. “The main task of the participants in the competition program is not only to study how architectural monuments are preserved today, but also to propose their own solutions for the restoration and adaptation of one of Moscow’s cultural heritage sites for modern use. At the same time, teams from other regions of Russia and foreign countries will be able to present projects for their own cities,” noted the head of the city’s Department of Cultural Heritage.
The forum will be held in Moscow from September 30 to November 28. In addition to the competition, educational and excursion programs have been prepared for the participants. Lectures and workshops, meetings with leading scientists and practitioners are planned. Students will visit restoration workshops, architectural and design bureaus, specialized companies, as well as architectural monuments. The business program will include plenary sessions with the participation of historians, urbanists, economists, and other experts. As part of this section, students will also present their developed projects to a professional jury.
The forum will conclude with a festival featuring master classes, quizzes, a job fair, and other events. A book salon and a lecture hall will be operating on site, there will be film screenings about Moscow and meetings with local historians. In addition, anyone interested will be able to present their own project aimed at preserving the city’s cultural heritage.
The youth forum “Heritage” has been held in the capital since 2018. In previous years, novice specialists from Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Donetsk, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, the Republic of Crimea, Samara, Saint Petersburg, Saratov, Smolensk, Tyumen, and Chelyabinsk have joined it.
