Moscow’s Creative Industries Agency, subordinate to the capital’s Department of Culture, prepared for the guests of the art center “Moscow Workshops” the program for September. Children and adults await fascinating excursions, intimate concerts in artists’ studios, lectures for the professional community, and workshops by the art studio “NeMalevichi”.
Art Apartment Concerts in Artists’ Studios
At the intimate meetings, the artists will talk about their creative journey, sources of inspiration, and the techniques they use and study. Attendance requires registration.
On September 6 at 16:00, guests will meet Yulia Konyakhova, an artist and book illustrator. She creates images for children’s and young adult publications, combining drawing with text.
On September 13 at 16:00, there will be a meeting with Anastasia Barinova and Irina Petrovska. Anastasia Barinova studies questions of self-knowledge and self-discovery, as well as the connection between humans and the mystical and unknown. She was born in Karelia and explores how nationality, family, and language shape cultural identity. Irina Petrovska works in watercolor technique and addresses themes of everyday life, nostalgia, and the memory of objects.
On September 20 at 16:00, the guests will be Nina Kosareva and Radmir Konovalov. Nina Kosareva works in the genre of figurative painting. Radmir Konovalov creates paintings, graphic works, and objects, combining reality and inner sensations with images of pop culture — as in the series “Geography,” “Artfessor,” and “Agglomeration.”
On September 27 at 4:00 PM, visitors will meet four female artists. Anastasia Markovskaya works at the intersection of painting, analog photography, textiles, and VR installations, exploring three components of human nature: spirit, personality, and body. Tatyana Kamenstein addresses themes of childhood and archetypal images in painting and ceramics. Anna Rzayeva combines graphics, ceramics, and textile art objects, exploring the world of children’s and girls’ fantasies. Olga Andriyash works with metal, ceramics, photography, and plant materials, investigating how lived experience leaves a mark.
Lectures for artists
On September 17 at 7:00 PM, there will be a creative meeting with Alexandra Koteneva, a resident of the third season of the project “Moscow Workshops,” titled “Hearing with the Eyes — Seeing with the Ears.” The artist will talk about what sound is, how it can be felt, seen, captured, and drawn. She explores synesthesia — the fusion of frequency, color, and form — and translates sound sensations into visual images.
On September 22 at 7:00 PM, there will be a lecture by Maria Kozhevnikova, president of the Leshchukfond Foundation for the Support of Contemporary Art. It was established in 2024 for the systematic development of the ecosystem of the Russian art market. The presentation will be devoted to an overview of the key findings of the study “Collaboration between Business and Art in Russia: Models, Barriers, Prospects” and how to increase the number of effective collaborations between the art and business communities.

Master classes and events of the art studio “NeMalevichi”
In September, the art studio “NeMalevichi” will hold events for children and adults at the “Moscow Workshops.” These include drawing classes for toddlers aged four and up and schoolchildren, as well as workshops on working with ceramics, where you can sculpt a brooch, vase, decorative plate, or candlestick. Additionally, visitors will learn the pottery wheel and get acquainted with 2D animation. There will also be a separate free workshop on creating miniature ceramic figures: guests aged six and older will make a pendant or badge in one session. Lectures have also been prepared for teenagers and adults, which will be useful for future applicants to art universities. These will discuss the perspective on art through the lens of medicine. Exhibition “I Think I’m in Love”
Until September 21, visitors can attend the exhibition “I Think I’m in Love.” The exposition is dedicated to the image of the city. It features about 60 works from more than 30 contemporary artists — residents of the project’s third season — ranging from graphics and painting to sculpture and installation. Visitors will see images of Moscow districts and sketches of modern urban life — a kind of love confession to the city through art. Guided tours of the exhibition take place daily at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM by prior registration. The curator is Eteri Ordzhonikidze.
“Moscow Workshops” is a city art center, opened in 2025 by the Moscow Agency of Creative Industries. The project combines equipped workshops, an exhibition space, a lecture hall, and an area for master classes. The residents are contemporary Moscow artists selected through a competitive process. For city residents, the space serves as a place to meet contemporary art. Here, one can not only be a viewer but also interact with the artists and create their own art object under the guidance of specialists.
