Eight new electric vessels will enter service on the line, and the third route will be extended.
Moscow was the first in the world to launch year-round regular electric boat service. Since 2023, four river routes with a total length of 34 kilometers have been opened in the capital, and 31 electric boats have been launched. Twenty-five docks have been arranged along the routes. Over three years, the electric boats have traveled more than 1.7 million kilometers, and residents and visitors of the city have taken four million trips.
In addition, on June 7 this year, the fourth route Luzhniki — Kievsky was opened in the capital with two new piers of the same name. The route length is about five kilometers. It improved transport accessibility to the Dorogomilovo, Khamovniki, and Ramenki districts. In the first six months of 2026, the electric vessels transported more than 0.7 million passengers.
“In May 2026, a ceremonial launching of the first modern electric vessels of the ‘Moscow 1.0’ project, built in the capital, took place at the Moscow shipyard. In addition, Government of Moscow and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations signed an agreement on the implementation of joint measures to enhance safety on the capital’s water bodies. The document is aimed at uniting the efforts of rescuers and city authorities to ensure effective control over the movement of small vessels, including through the introduction of modern IT solutions and technologies.
Since July 7, the Moscow Automobile and Road Inspection (MADI) has been granted new powers to administer river vessels, which it exercises jointly with the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. MADI identifies violations of speed limits, parking outside permitted zones, violations of passenger safety rules including the absence of life jackets, and operating a vessel without a registration number. Inspectors on boats also detect violations such as operating without a vessel certificate and licenses, lack of authority to operate, driving under the influence, violations of vessel loading and unloading rules and use of parking areas, as well as releasing vessels into navigation with violations.
During this time, 125 vessels have been inspected, 30 violations have been identified, seven rulings have been issued, and four vessels have been towed to impound lots.
