Capital city graduates showed record high results at the end of the academic year and the Unified State Exam (USE). Over 10,000 students were awarded the Moscow medal “For Special Achievements in Education” — every seventh eleventh grader. This was reported by the press service Moscow Department of Education and Science.
“This year, 896 graduates of the 11th grades have the status of winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian School Olympiad, over 2,600 students scored 100 points on the Unified State Exam, and 6,500 graduated school with all A’s and at the same time scored at least 220 points on exams in three subjects. Each of them was awarded the city medal ‘For Special Achievements in Education,'” the press service of the department noted.
The medal provides up to 10 additional points to the Unified State Exam (USE) results when applying to higher education institutions, which becomes a significant advantage in the competition for budget-funded places.
“I have been an honor student since ninth grade. I tried to get straight A’s because it’s pleasing both to myself and to my parents. I scored 100 points each on the Unified State Exam in mathematics and physics. I prepared specifically for the exams for two years, with great help from my school teachers. Actually, I have been passionate about physics and mathematics for a long time. When I was in fifth grade, my father and I studied together. He is an engineer and graduated from Bauman University. I also want to enter there and have already submitted my application. A medal and a red diploma might come in handy. I think if two applicants have the same total points, they will choose the one with additional achievements,” said Ivan Chuikov, a graduate of 11th grade of school No. 1566 named after the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad, who was awarded the Moscow medal “For Special Achievements in Studies.”
Graduates with disabilities can receive a medal if their certificate has final grades of five, and they scored at least 146 points in total on the Unified State Exam in Russian language and specialized mathematics, or at least 73 points in Russian language with an “excellent” grade in basic level mathematics.
In 2025, every eighth graduate in the capital received a medal — more than 8,700 people.
