Beijing, August 31 /Xinhua/ — The Chinese side has taken note that the Japan Self-Defense Forces have charged a suspect in the case of intrusion into the Chinese Embassy building in Tokyo, and calls on the Japanese side to conscientiously fulfill its duties and hold the criminal accountable. This was stated on Monday by the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Guo Jiakun.
According to media reports, the Japan Self-Defense Forces announced on August 28 the dismissal of Officer Kodai Murata, who allegedly climbed over a barbed wire fence on March 24 and broke into the territory of the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo with an 18 cm knife, threatening to kill Chinese diplomats.
Go Jiakun made the corresponding statement at a regular briefing for journalists in response to a request to comment on this situation.
According to him, the intrusion of an active officer of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces into the Chinese embassy with a knife and threats of violence against the Chinese side is of an extremely malicious nature. –0–
