On August 29, as part of the Moscow International Film Week, the premiere of the mini-series “The New Girl Against K.L.A.V.D.I.I.” took place in the summer cinema of the Muzeon Arts Park. This is a 30-episode micro-drama shot in a vertical format with an aspect ratio of 9:16 for viewing on smartphones. “Filming a vertical series is a great opportunity for schoolchildren to practically learn how the film industry works: the kids not only observe the process but immediately try their hand at it. This experience helps them understand how interesting and relatable the profession is. Additionally, the project clearly shows the mutual benefits of such collaboration: film studios find fresh talents, and teenagers gain real experience on the set,” noted the department’s press service.
According to the plot of the series, a new student named Sonya, who is interested in information technology, appears at school No. 67. At the same time as the girl’s arrival, problems begin, so her classmates blame her for the appearance of a neuro-virus.
Students from six Moscow educational institutions — schools No. 625, 2054, 1468, 1517, 1811 “Vostochnoye Izmaylovo” and “Pokrovsky Quarter” — worked on the mini-series. High school students performed various tasks. For instance, young screenwriters developed dialogues and took part in selecting actors for key roles. Supervisors controlled details of the filming process, while assistant directors monitored time and handled organizational matters. Participants in crowd scenes, together with the costume designer and makeup artist, worked on the characters’ looks. The practice took place on the set of the “Moskino” film park in the capital. At the end of the internship, the high school students received certificates. They were handed out before the premiere screening Olesya Lukashuk, the first deputy head of the Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow, and the general director of “Moskino” Georgiy Prokopov.

Project “Media class in a Moscow school” has been working in capital city schools since 2021.
