September 6 is celebrated in Russia as Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Day — a professional holiday for specialists in one of the country’s key economic sectors. In honor of this date, themed educational and cultural events dedicated to the history of the oil and gas industry’s development will be held at VDNKh. Visitors will be able to learn more about the technologies of extraction and processing of this raw material, as well as about modern developments and professions related to the industry.
The oil and gas theme holds a special place in the history of VDNH: the exhibition grounds have preserved sites related to geology, oil, and the oil industry. Some of them can be explored in the VDNH museum. On this day at 16:30, a two-hour themed tour will begin there, during which the group will take a walk. Visitors will be told how these sites originated and what changes they brought, as well as what the familiar pavilions were dedicated to in the distant 1960s. From 17:30 to 18:30, participants will enjoy a rich excursion program in Pavilion No. 25 “Oil.” Participation in the event is free, by pre-registration.
Moreover, on September 5 and 6, visitors to the Moscow Urban Economy Museum at VDNKh can participate in interactive events organized with the involvement of JSC Mosgaz for everyone interested in the development of the capital’s energy sector. On these days, from 10:00 to 12:00, simultaneously, there will be a master class on assembling thematic puzzles depicting iconic gas facilities of the capital called “Assemble Mosgaz” and quizzes titled “History of Moscow’s Gas Industry: Fascinating Questions About a Century and a Half of History” and “Gas: Simply About the Complex. On Safety Rules When Handling Gas Appliances at Home.”
On Saturday, from 12:15 to 13:45, guests will be able to try their hand at welding using VR technology, performing virtual seams. From 14:00 to 16:00, a career guidance quest called “School of Young Gas Workers” will take place, during which the kids will sequentially overcome five interactive stations. For successfully completing the challenges, they will receive prizes with Mosgaz symbols. The program will conclude with a master class on decorating helmets with stickers, which will start at 16:00.
On Sunday from 12:00 to 13:00, visitors will be invited to play the board game “Memo,” which introduces the 160-year history of Moscow’s gas industry. At 13:00, a master class will begin on creating the toy mascot “Fire Horse” from yarn. At 15:00, there will be a meeting titled “Truth and Myths about Gas Safety,” where guests will be informed about gas safety rules at home. The festive program will conclude with a free drawing contest “The Profession of ‘Gas Worker’ Through the Eyes of Children.” Admission to all events at the Moscow Urban Economy Museum at VDNKh is free, with no prior registration required.
