From September 1 to December 30, the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia invites city residents to a special program called “Hero’s Star.” As part of this project, which will take place at the branch of the State Museum of the Defense of Moscow, themed tours and creative workshops will be organized for visitors.
Visitors will learn the history of the titles Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation, see historical exhibits, and hear stories about the feats of soldiers, pilots, cosmonauts, rescuers, and other remarkable people. The final part of the program will be a creative origami workshop, where each participant will craft a model of the “Gold Star” medal.
The guided tour “Meeting the Heroes” will open to visitors the pages of a glorious past and tell about people whose feats serve as examples for future generations. The story covers the fates of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and unnamed heroes who fought in the wars of the 20th century.
Guests will learn how the highest military award of the Soviet Union transitioned into the modern awards system of the Russian Federation. The guide will share the history of the creation of this award in the Red Army, talk about the first Heroes of the Soviet Union, as well as about the honorary title of Hero of the Soviet Union and the gold badge of distinction.
Participants in the origami master class will make a medal out of paper and will be able to take home a handmade souvenir in the form of a “Gold Star” as a memento.
